The sky, almost entirely covered in clouds in two distinct layers. Uppermost are many seemingly small white puffy clouds (altocumulus, I think) with only small breaks of deep blue between. Lower down are a number of gray cottony cumulus clouds. At the bottom of the picture is the dark silhouette of a line of trees.

Some cloud iridescence yesterday. Been a while since I was last treated to such colours.

An even closer look at the same cloud iridescence. The colourful yet diffuse details of the cloud give a slight impression of a painting of some sort.

Tuo eilinen auringonlasku oli erityisen jännä siinä mielessä, että aurinko pääsi valaisemaan pilvien alapintoja varsin ahtaasta raosta. Tilanne oli siis punaisuudestaan huolimatta aikas hämärä. Lisäksi pilvet oli tuolloin kohtuullisen korkealla, joten ne saivat valoa sopivan kauan vielä auringonlaskun jälkeen. Sitten vielä pilvistä tippuva jääkide virga (sade joka ei yllä maahan asti) toi oman utuisen elementtinsä kokonaisuuteen. Tässä vielä laajempi kuva yhdestä kohtaa. Virgaa oli todella paljon.

A wide shot of the sunset. Fibrous trails of ice particles falling from the clouds above sweep across the frame. Some of them catch the red light of the setting sun. A sliver of yellow clear sky is visible in the horizon.

A sunset to end a cloudy day. The Altocumulus covering most of the sky started to open up from the west just as I'd hoped. This allowed the sunlight to illuminate the undersides of the clouds, which pretty much always results in a beautiful sunset. Here the small opening constrained this effect somewhat, making for a slightly darker and moodier scene.
