#AnzacParade

Along Anzac Parade, Wanganui
toned silver gelatin print on paper. What a beautiful moment captured here, a combination of light-hearted humour, tenderness and genuine intimacy. They are both so well dressed, I wonder where they might have been going or coming from. In contrast, the carefree pose of the woman is so informal. My first thought on coming across this photograph was of my late parents, who used to love to walk their dog, Jack along Anzac Parade to James McGregor Park. They might easily have sat in this same spot. Collection of the Sarjeant Gallery Te Whare o Rehua Whanganui. Gift of the artist, 1996

In the image, two elderly people are sitting on a bench in what appears to be a park or outdoor space. The person on the left is wearing a light-colored dress and has their legs crossed. They seem to be smiling or engaged in conversation with the person next to them. The individual on the right, possibly male based on the attire, is wearing a striped shirt and dark pants. He has a cane resting between his legs and appears to be looking at the person sitting beside him with a sense of amusement or affection.

The bench they are sitting on is set against a backdrop that includes trees and other greenery, suggesting a peaceful, natural environment. The photo is described as a "toned silver gelatin print on paper," which implies it might have an aged appearance. There's also a reference to the location being along Anzac Parade in Wanganui, with a note that this could be where someone's parents once walked their dog.

The image captures a candid moment of connection and enjoyment between two individuals who seem at ease and comfortable with each other. The overall tone is warm and inviting, with the subjects appearing relaxed and content in the company of one another.
