A recent sketch from my sketchbook, playing with decorative butterfly wings and intricate line work - there's something meditative about getting lost in all those swirls and concentric patterns.

The pink accents were a last-minute addition that really brought the creatures to life. Sometimes the simplest color choices make all the difference.

Mostly I’m focused on getting the proportions, layout, pose/attitude, final design figured out. I still have work to do on the lighting, final color in oil. it’s hard to color match & soften edges in acrylics the way it dries so fast. I’d like to try golden open if I ever have spare $$$ get 4 or 5 of my main colors I use.
FYI this painting is using Payne’s grey, Burnt Sienna, Yellow Ochre, White, & a tiny bit of Magenta.
That’s it. I love a limited palette.
