After 10 years of many false starts and fruitful distractions, this year he finally succeeded at rolling his own reproduction of the doomed poster using the #BBCMicro's Acorn Graphics Extension ROM -- the entire reason he got into making computer art to begin with. My treasured Microvitec CUB monitor for my #BBCMicro died after the one-before-last retro computer event.

Whilst I plan to get that repaired (paging my twin brother!), I have sourced a very good condition super-early model. The one with a very light grey phosphor.

It is certainly MUCH better in darker rooms, but still pleased with its performance for such an elderly unit.

It's done! I have just released the Compendium version of #Elite for the #Acorn #Electron.

This massively enhanced version of the original game contains pretty much every feature of #BBCMicro Elite, but on the Electron. Just add 16K of sideways RAM.

Today's addition to #Acorn #Electron #Elite is the energy bomb animation from the Apple II, BBC Master and NES.

In the original Electron version, the energy bomb did little more than beep gently. Now it rages with lightning bolts! That's much better.

IS BASIC from the #Enterprise128 is the foremost advanced #BASIC dialects for #8Bit #HomeComputers. But it is very(!) slow. The "Creative Computing Benchmark" took nearly 5 minutes to run (comparable to the #SinclairZXSpectrum and the #TRS80 Model 100) but produced excellent results: "accuracy" is quite good (comparable with #BBCMicro) and "random" is the best of all computers measured in the contest from 1984:

Right now I am writing a short #HomeComputer #BASIC dialect history. Today I arrived in Great Britain's BASIC systems. Looking through different benchmarks I found the one from David Ahl (printed in "Creative Computing" 1983/84) and tested on dozends of mini computers, super computers, mainframes and home computers ... but not on the #AmstradCPC. So, here you are: The CPC with Locomotive BASIC 1.1 on a Europien CPC (50Hz) is one of the best (only topped by the #BBCMicro):

I'm pretty happy with how this cleaned up. Could do with a final going over (especially the keys when my key puller turns up with my other stuff) but a big improvement on how it arrived 😍
