Full confession: I run IPv4-only at home purely for simplicity. I get the address scarcity issue, but maybe I just don't see the real appeal yet.

The Core Appeal of IPv6: It's not just more addresses—it's about reclaiming end-to-end connectivity. No NAT, no port forwarding hassles. Every device gets a globally reachable IP.

For DNS/Naming (like #BIND/#Unbound): It eliminates the need for ugly NAT reflection/"hairpinning" to access internal services from your LAN. The host just works, internally and externally.

For SDR/Hosting: Imagine running an SDR server or a personal host—you can give it a static /64 prefix and actually reach it without wrestling with UPnP or carrier-grade NAT.

The Complexity Trade-off: You're right, dual-stack is complex. But the long-term play is IPv6-only with DNS64/NAT64 to handle legacy IPv4 traffic. That's actually less complexity than maintaining two parallel stacks forever.

Yet, #debhelper-added scriptlets in maintainer scripts call systemctl if [ -d /run/systemd ].

Which is bad if you’re in an #schroot with /run bind-mounted from the host and the host is running systemd (a customer system, none of mine).

What I need is a way to #whiteout a directory from a #bind #mount.

I heard #overlayfs can do that, but it seems to no longer exist.

Any other ideas¹?

(And yes, I want and need to bind-mount /run itself, as the #chroot adds sockets there that are then accessed from outside the chroot, viceque versa.)

Однажды администратор одного из внутренних сайтов предприятия попросил прописать TXT запись для получения Let's Encrypt сертификата, поскольку сайт не доступен снаружи и, нет возможности настроить проверку HTTP-01 . Через три месяца попросил прописать еще раз, для продления, потом появился второй такой сайт, и, стало очевидно, что процесс пора автоматизировать. Уже перед публикацией нашлась отличная статья с полезными комментариями, автору понадобилась та же проверка DNS-01 и стандарт RFC 2136 для автоматизации выпуска wildcard сертификата Так, что, предлагаю краткую “шпаргалку с заменой по Ctrl+H”, для тех, кто использует сервер DNS сервер bind и хочет делегировать выпуск/проверку Let`s Encrypt сертификатов для внутренних сайтов сторонним подразделениям.

meine Serials sehen aus wie die bei den meisten anderen vermutlich auch: YYMMDD plus ein zweistelliges Inkrement, die erste Version heute wäre also 2026011300
Irgendwann hatte ich einen Fehler gemacht und als Serial 2060107302 eingetragen. Nun macht das erstmal nichts, man kann das ja korrigieren. Allerdings haben nun die Secondaries eine absurd hohe Serial und werden nie die Änderungen vom Primary ziehen, solange sie eine höhere Serial haben.
Man kann anrufen oder ein Ticket aufmachen und darum bitten, einen Zonentransfer händisch zu triggern, aber das ist ja irgendwie uncool.
RfC 1982 regelt das, aber ich verstehe ihn nicht wirklich.
Jedenfalls hat die Serial ein Maximum:

That is, the serial number is a non negative integer with values taken from the range [0 .. 4294967295].  That is, a 32 bit unsigned integer.

The maximum defined increment is 2147483647 (2^31 - 1).
