Loving this new sign outside the Barrowlands in the East End of Glasgow. Originally built as a ballroom, it's now one of the city's favourite music venues. The sign is by the street artist A Sign of Humour.

@thisismyglasgow I was at a few of the gigs that are just-about-legible in that pic; Portishead, Sisters of Mercy and Sonic Youth; Elvis Costello I wasn't at but got his autograph that day. In his words, "must've been a wonder when it was brand new..."

Not sure how much longer that will last tho. The Barrowland Park Album Pathway. Created by Artist Jim Lambe in 2014 to celebrate the role that the Barrowland Ballroom has played in Glasgow's musical history. Each 'album' on the path is dedicated to a gig by a specific act at the Barrowlands, ranging from Bob Dylan to Primal Scream, and including many iconic home-grown bands such as Simple Minds.

Going to accompany my other half and keep them company as they queue at the Barras to see Hamish Hawk (30 years ago he'd be massive but he's carving out his niche and his first time playing Barrowlands). I'm not going to the gig. Too many people in that place for me and I'm not 100% so moral support only.

The Iconic Barrowland Ballroom Neon Sign on Gallowgate in Glasgow.

The Ballroom was first built by Maggie McIver, the Barras Queen, in 1934. On its roof was sign depicted a man pushing a barrow, which is thought to have been the first animated neon sign in the UK.

I noticed this decoration on an old tenement opposite the Barrowlands Park in Glasgow. It took me a few minutes to realise that the usual leaf garland motif above the windows morphed into a strange face at the end.
