I just wanted to post something about having another look at #Budibase as a low-code platform and realized, that I wrote the exact same thing exactly one year ago 🤨
I've heard of #lowcode and #nocode platforms, but always ignored them and never understood their purpose. But somewhere in the middle of 2023 our team manager suggested that we try #budibase as a "form manipulator". I liked it just as I started to use it, and I see lots of opportunities for us, because at our company we don't have already existing services that allow us to create business tools.
Spent an hour or so with a selfhosted #budibase instance. Really a polished product but much more focused on building internal apps instead of simply a #database frontend. Not quite what I was looking for but might be a suitable option.
Compared to #nocodb and #baserow much heavier on memory, but that might be ok considering the much broader scope.
#openid connect seems to be supported in the open source docker image.
Just evaluated the open source offerings of #baserow (1.21.2) and #nocodb (0.202.9) for a small project at a public school.
Short summary: Forget baserow, the open source edition lacks even the most basic settings (users for example). In addition there are some UI glitches and the UI for linking multiple entries is far inferior to nocodb's UI.
Clear winner thus far: nocodb. Let's see what #budibase has to offer.
I've been switching from many website builders often. At first I used websites which had code on my iPad to make like I'm Jerry. But then my first actual website builder was #carrd. Then a long time later I made a change to #Bubble. And it was decent. But insanely expensive. I also tried #budibase but I made my final switch to #webflow things have been going great. playing with #budibase this morning to see if I can quickly build a CRUD UI for a #monodb.
It's been about two hours and I'm pretty happy with the whole process so far.
I have a few more issues to figure out but after that I'd feel pretty confident that using this tool would be beneficial for a lot of projects.
