Wipe your brow, because Alberta Conservative MP Damien Kurek has agreed to step down to force a by-election in his riding of Battle River-Crowfoot. Mark Carney's Liberal Party did not achieve a 'majority' but the parties available to support his government going forward are 'progressive' parties. So Canada's Parliament has a progressive majority.
Last two Parliaments were the same and progressive coalition provided us with programs like national $10/day child care, seniors and low income dental plan, and the initial stages of universal pharmacare.

It seems that no one got what they wanted with the #CanadianElection. Liberals did not get their majority and loss seats in Ontario. Conservatives did not form government and their leader lost their seat. NDP loss their leader and party status, the BQ shrunk and no gains for the Greens. That said, it is probably the best outcome for Canadians. I am Excited to see where things go from here.

Bravo Zulu #Canada! For some reason this song has been running through my head this morning. There's a lot of truth to the stereotype about Canadians being polite; this, particularly the last verse, is just about the politest and most Canadian way of telling the U.S. to f**k off that I can possibly imagine.
This was a pretty astonishing election. Just a few months ago, it was a certain conservative landslide majority, and now Poilievre is unemployed. It swung on two things: first was Trudeau understanding that he needed to step down. The second, of course, was Trump’s betrayal of our long alliance and his threats of annexation. Poilievre, who had been using Trump’s slogans and language almost word-for-word for years, couldn’t separate himself in time. It was enough, as one commenter said, to scare NDP supporters into voting for a Bay Street banker.
The Liberals understood when it was time for their unpopular leader to step down, but I wonder if the Conservatives will learn the lesson? I really think that they might have won this election, with any other leader.

The Liberals are a few seats shy of a majority. On the upside the NDP have enough seats to give the Liberals 172. They can also go to the BQ. And the Cons. Does this sound familiar? Business as usually the last 8 years. It's a government that must govern for Canada and Carney is the non-ideologue that will find the Canadian middle way based on the numbers. Each party can get what it wants if it waits in line like good Canadians. It's a very dry, crisp Canadian government that should please all when it sits except for the right wing haters. Well, they can choke on it. Real Cons, as opposed to the national Wild Rose party that pretends to be the storied Conservative Party of Canada, should be secretly pleased a TRUE progressive conservative is now PM. I get it, people grew tired of Trudeau flouncing and virtue signalling in the face of real issues. Carney is not Trudeau. He's all business but can throw on a hoodie and dance like a happy dad at the neighbourhood block party and doesn't expect headlines about what a fab guy he is or a best selling calendar at Christmas time. Steady on Mark "the rock" Carney.
