After a lot of reflection, Iโve left the Master of Educational Neuroscience. A few things pushed the decision. Poor admin was a factor, but more importantly, I realised I hate doing research and Iโve had to face some fears Iโve avoided for a long time. Iโve gone back to the Master of Counselling I started a few years ago.
The neuroscience knowledge is still incredibly valuable and will shape how I practise, but I need something that gives me practical skills to work with people now. Iโm not sure a PhD is something I want to pursue, and I donโt want to put all my eggs in one basket.
Now I have to decide where to finish the course. Iโm enrolled at a private counselling college that has offered me a partial scholarship. They specialise in counselling, which is a strength, but classes run from 5:30 to 9 pm twice a week, which is when I function least well. The other option is returning to the same university where I started. Iโve already completed two units there, and while thereโs no scholarship, the structure might suit me better.
Decision fatigue is real.
