Apparently, we're still doing the "Eat fish-sauce soup in an open plan office" thing.

So glad I #wfh the other 4 days of the week, but a bit disappointed that my mask doesn't completely block smells.

#WFH #cat post ... She always knows when I have a meeting. Yesterday she jumped up on my desk and gave me a headbutt toy nose right when I was in the middle of a presentation. #cats

𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻....

Someone had been working on the boss to allow them to #WFH for the rest of the week, but they turned up at the office this morning because they've had yet another power cut at home, and this is the second time it's happened to them.

Yes, I am a bad person. I laughed my guts out.

Remote work was framed as a temporary response, but the data show a lasting shift. Office attendance has not returned to pre-pandemic levels. Evidence points to higher retention, stable productivity, reduced infection risk, and critical support for workers affected by Long COVID. Remote work is no longer an emergency measure, it’s a long-term strategy for workforce resilience and public health.

Hi, it’s Tuesday and time for the first social media marketing call of the day - how was your day going?

Some summer days, work is a chore, even if I love my colleagues and like my job. Luckily, there is cat

#cats #CatsOfMastodon #WorkingFromHome #wfh

A small tabby cat is keeping me company, sitting atop some magazines on my work desk, in a half loaf position (back feet and tail tucked under but still putting her weight on her front feet, rather than tucking them under too). She's got her back to me and is looking off to the left in the distance. Next to her you can see a couple of pot plants and the edge of my computer monitor and trackball. There are bookshelves in the background, filled with mostly children's books.

Hear me out. Cat Café x Coworking. Like a classic coworking space but with cats laying around.

I have my own homegrown cat for day use, but I would be willing to go to your in prem meeting if I could at least pet some support cats during your whatever slides.

Give me the money, YC here I come.

Sitting here watching a file upload to the work network drive (hosted on Azure) via my 500Mbps home internet, and realising it's throttled to <40Mbps, because of course it is... 🙄

Especially frustrating because I've seen it do >200Mbps from home.
(The file is 10GB, so, yeah, it's taking a while.)

Because of the bad weather I've spent the last one and half weeks working from home.

Now I'm back in the (ten person) office, and I have no idea how I ever managed to concentrate with so much background noise and chat going on. Even with headphones on it's so hard just to keep my mind on one task without half of someone else's conversation drifting into my thoughts and derailing my work.

Had my year end review today with my supervisor and while I didn't blow the doors off the evaluation ,it was noted how much I actually do and how much he counts on my expertise.
It was one of the nicest evaluations I have received in the 10 years I've been there this coming spring.

It hasn't been a good week, and it's only Tuesday. 😩 So I decided to take a shower on my lunch break. Let's see if that turns things around. 🤞
