Ah, gotcha. THX, John.
I had heard the issue in these past, but not of that important report.
An important lesson can be drawn from this criminal investigation for almost ?(?) all countries:
👉Recording the #Ethnicity of a perpetrators is no systemic #Racism per se.
On the contratrary, the lack of doing so may lead to constitutional blindness. 👈
"*The Casey report reveals 15 years of establishment denial*
...
Maggie Oliver draws the conclusion from the #CaseyReport that illegal immigration is the reason behind pedophilia in the UK !!
"My final point is I have seen nationalities in these gangs that are not Pakistani men, but many of them are Afghanistani (sic) or Iranian or Iraqi but they are still all Muslim and it is an issue where we see increasing numbers of illegal immigration coming into the country where many of those immigrants share the same belief system & different ways of treating women"
It's just yet another example to add to the ever growing list of "Lessons Must Be Learned, It Must Never Happen Again"

"Casey report pulls no punches - but will it lead to meaningful change?"
You will seldom see a finer example of #BetteridgesLaw. Of course it won't.
Victims of grooming gangs are often marginalised and disadvantaged. Our current crop of politicians are far more interested in playing politics with this issue than helping the marginalised and disadvantaged.
Neither Louise Casey's report nor any inquiry will satisfy people who have already made up their mind that the cause of "Pakistani rape gangs" is Pakistanis. #CaseyReport #GroomingGangs

Wow! The UK Home Secretary, #SuellaBraverman , publicly attacks #TheMet police.
Something she did *not* do after the #CaseyReport found the Met "institutionally racist, misogynistic and homophobic" based on years of real data.
Braverman already broke the Ministerial and was sacked. It's past time to #SackBraverman again for her ineptitude and divisiveness.

This week’s Philosophy Unleashed (the last before the Easter break) looks at the institutionally racist, misogynistic, and homophobic London Met police force and calls out their commissioner, Mark Rowley, for refusing to use the word “institutional”. It also looks at institutional prejudices baked into schools. https://www.philosophyunleashed.com/theblog/151-institutionally-afraid-on-the-importance-of-acknowledging-institutional-prejudice

"The Metropolitan police is broken and rotten, suffering collapsing public trust and is guilty of institutional racism, misogyny and homophobia, an official report has said."

The #CaseyReport documents the truth about #Police everywhere.
Based on slave patrols; serving property rather than humanity; ushering a stream of unpaid labor into the Carceral State's profit generators.
We need to rethink #community #security altogether, from the ground up.
The #CaseyReport into the #MetPolice is shocking and an indictment of those who have enabled such behaviours within of one of the most powerful institutions in our country for years. Without first seeking root and branch reform and addressing endemic racism, misogyny and homophobia, they shouldn't be expanding the regime of predictive or automated #policing we’ve seen adopted across police forces nationally. We already know how easy it is to bake biases into such systems. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/mar/21/met-police-damning-casey-report-campaigners-misogyny-racism-homophobia

The defensive and denialist reaction of the Chairman of the Metropolitan Police Federation rather proves Casey's case, it seems to me, while Rowley's quibbling about whether the problem is "institutional" or "systemic" is hardly helpful.
Given these appalling behaviours have gone on for decades + the new comissioner will not accept the force is *institutionally* racist, misogynist, homophobic, isn't it past time to scrap the Met as is and start over?
Thinking about how the #LGBTPlus community should respond to the #CaseyReport on #racism #sexism #misogny and #homophobia in the #police
The #CaseyReport is a catalogue of confirmation(s) of what critics of the Met have been saying for years but have been dismissed as alarmist or indicative of 'bad apples'... now in the wake of crimes so serious they could not be ignored the report lifts the lid on the seething mass of vileness that is London policing;
But for those outside the M25, a significant Q. is how typical is the Met & how much has its normalisation of such behaviour affected regional forces?
