Not quite the Great Wall of China, but the somewhat smaller city wall of #Chester. Even in the wind and rain, it was still an interesting amble. I learned of the existence of the word "murenger", a wall repairer/ maintainer, an Old English word derived from the even older French "muragier", the person in charge of collecting and administering the wall tax. I hadn't been to Chester since I was a student, and my last visit conjured up very vague memories, so it was a nice refresher to be able to appreciate the architecture and history of the place as a "grown-up". While I was there, took a few pictures of the Tudor-style timber structures, including the one below.
