No single country can solve #ClimateChange, as no single country caused it on its own. All industrialised countries have contributed to it, and all countries must contribute to the solution.
However, that doesn't mean that not every single contribution counts! Now that we have failed to keep warming below 1.5 degrees, it is time to stop waiting for other countries to take the lead, or for future innovations to absolve us, and start doing what we can.
A neighbor in his mid-70s came over with seed potatoes for me and passed on an interesting/scary statistic: if we make it through May without a frost — and that looks likely — it will be only the second time that has happened since he moved here in the early 1970s.

Dit jaar zal waarschijnlijk nog meevallen, maar tussen 2024 en 2030 zal het elk jaar #warmer worden, tot +1,5°C in die periode. Daarna zou het mss een beetje minder worden.
Ik betwijfel of het veel zal zijn. Deze #opwarming komt door #elnino, maar de trend blijft stijgend. 30°C zal dus een blijvertje zijn, net zoals de jaarlijkse #hittegolf en de #droogte. Tegen dat laatste kunnen we ons wel een beetje wapenen.

Mevr #demir zal genoeg redenen hebben om dit vooral niet aan te grijpen om ambitieuze en duurzame #klimaatoplossingen te formuleren.
Spanje is dan ook ver weg en heeft totaal geen impact op wat wij doen. De #hittegolf daar en alle #temperatuurrecords zijn niet van toepassing op ons. (ongetwijfeld vind je gemakkelijk iemand bij VB die dit zo zal formuleren)

Daarnaast zou het ook de warmste dag in december ooit gemeten kunnen zijn. ik denk wel dat ook deze records niet lang op de tabellen zullen blijven staan.

Het was dus een #droog (enkel 2018 was droger) en #warm jaar (gem 12,1°C). Dit is het 2de warmste jaar sinds 1833, enkel 2020 was warmer (ong 0,1°C)
Ondanks de koude temperaturen de laatste 2 weken, is er dus geen enkele #vriesdag (= 24h <0°C) geweest in Ukkel.
Nog opvallend: nooit eerder was er zo laat op het jaar een #zomerdag (+25°C; 29 oktober).
