Have you heard the theoretical origin story of the Cobra Effect, which is a Perverse Incentive?
In colonized India, the Brits were concerned about the vast population of cobras. So they offered a bounty on them.
Indians gamed the system, breeding cobras and selling them for the bounty. When the Brits found out, breeders released them into the wild. This inadvertent effect is the Cobra Effect.

TDD's not at all difficult to practice. It is, however, hugely difficult to bother with. How many devs give a rats arse about cost of change*, faster time to market*, fewer defects*, improved productivity*, and reduced project risk*?
*Each notional benefit is in fact a dysbenefit from the perspective of developers trying to maximise their income. #PayForHoursWorked #CobraEffect

Ever since Signal announced it would not be supporting SMS, not one but ALL *except* two of my non-activist friends/family have stopped using it completely.
Really smart that they undertook such a user-hostile top-down decision. Now we all SMS more (or use WhatsAp, which sends metadata to a dystopian company).
The 'Eat Out to Help Out' scheme in the UK was probably responsible for 8-17% of all new infections whilst it was active and, ironically, led to the further lockdowns & restrictions that crippled hospitality - which it was intended to help. Relationship seems robust, and rainfall (which affected people going out) also seemed to influence rates of #COVID infection. #CobraEffect. https://doi.org/10.1093/ej/ueab074
