Aaaand... done! My website is successfully running on #11ty instead of #zola , build with 11ty v4.0.0-alpha.6 by #Codeberg 's CI automatically on every push :nkoHype:
I'm exploring what #GitHub alternatives exist. I have something neat to share.
See the little checkmark on this repo?
https://codeberg.org/louwers/duckdb-builds
The #CI of this #Codeberg repository is running on #SourceHut. Bridged with yojo https://yojo.emersion.fr/
I think each platform has its advantages, but definitely CI is a strong aspect of SourceHut and a weak point of Codeberg / #Forgejo. Both projects are based in the #EU and are open source.
What is your experience with #GitHub alternatives?
Rofl #GitHub Actions is/was apparently so broken that #Zig decided to move to #Codeberg a few weeks ago.
https://ziglang.org/news/migrating-from-github-to-codeberg/
Apparently the thing that was too much for Zig is a HORRIFYING bug causing runners to run forever because of a broken sleep script.

Good. The more projects leave GitHub, the better.

Last week I finished my biggest #bookbinding project a daily #planner composed by 95 sheets, 380 pages, and 12 signatures. The planner was designed using #scribus, and an extension I wrote in #python, to generate the whole planner starting from a single page template. Full story on my free #kofi post: https://ko-fi.com/post/The-biggest-bookbinding-project-so-far-Z8Z41PWZHK
The extension is on #codeberg here: https://codeberg.org/dreamos82/scribus_script
Below some pictures of the new planner! #hardcover #handmade #bookbinder #programming #craft #artandcraft
I slightly blame @c3 for this, but I have just written my first #Rust program, to solve Day 1 Part 1 of #AdventOfCode.
It is not at all pretty, and very bodged together because I got a bit bored reading the Rust Book tutorial and decided to skip ahead a bit. But it got me my first gold star of 2025!
(also, my wish for the future is to use #Codeberg to log into the AoC website!)
Fork it. It’s done. I’m moving away from GitHub. So long, and thanks for all the fish. It’s #Codeberg era now. I’m also going full self-hosted on whatever I can. It’s going to be a painful journey, but hey, which journey isn’t, huh? So fork it, it’s time.
Fork it. Es ist durch. Ich ziehe von GitHub weg. So long, and thanks for all the fish.
Also: fork it, es ist so weit.
Fork it. C’est fait. Je me barre de GitHub. So long, and thanks for all the fish.
Alors fork it, vive la révolution!
Fork it. Já era. Tô caindo fora do GitHub. So long, and thanks for all the fish.
Então fork it, chegou a hora!
Fork it. Nüüd on kõik. Ma kolin GitHubist minema. So long, and thanks for all the fish.
Nüüd on Codebergi ajastu.

@fstateaudio Yeah I went through the same thing over the past few years.
At this point I find myself valuing cooperative projects more (which incidentally tend to be FOSS, because that infrastructure already exists). Does that make sense?
When I was using and preaching FOSS, I felt like my POV was very individualistic at its core.
Whereas now I've pretty much moved entirely to #Mirlo , #Codeberg , and other similar coop projects.

I need Codeberg projects to work as nicely as Github projects.
That means getting two features:
1. being able to create an issue directly inside a column. The new issue thing takes me out of the project page.
2. Android app access. I can quickly see what I'm up to on any project on Github android app by going to the project Kanban thing. GitNex is wonderful and seems to be the closest thing to the Github android app, but there's no project viewing feature.
If I get those two, I can literally get out of Github before 2026
I'm migrating to #Codeberg from #Github. I'll probably do it lazily, as I make updates to repos, but it's the right thing to do. https://codeberg.org/biesnecker
Did the TODO. Now old backups are cleaned up.

Setup daily backups of my #SQLite for my #gotosocial server. Backups go to S3 at the moment but I’ll add just archiving to a local path or maybe scp to a host? I dunno. Don’t need to make things too complicated.
I put the script on #Codeberg for others to use if they want.
TODO: add cleaning up old backups.

I'm now on #Codeberg too as user SenseException, in case you want to connect (or burden me with maintaining code 😁).
@tobi schau mal hier: https://blog.codeberg.org/letter-from-codeberg-onwards-and-upwards.html
"git-pages is an alternative to Codeberg Pages, it uses a different approach to serving static pages that is more efficient. Codeberg is planning to gradually migrate to it."
@regineheidorn @MeierSchulze @barning
