Today's high temperature in Syracuse was 7°F (-14°C). I think we've had only about a dozen or so colder days in the past 20 years.

I layered up and went for a walk on the canal trail, about 12,000 steps. The only fresh footprints I saw were mine and some animals'. Even at the very end (that's my car you see in the third photo), no human tracks but mine from the beginning of the walk.

Which surprised me. It wasn't _really_ cold. I actually took my gloves off at one point because my fingers were too hot. I recall a 1980s day near Chicago when it was -27°F, with wind chill -81°F. _That_ was cold.
