Photography is pretty easy. All you need is an alright camera, a good vantage point and a beautiful universe.

A photo of a valley, filled with fog, the sun is setting behind a hill and there is a rickety wire fence across the middle.A sun starting to set behind a hill. There is a silhouette of an old farm house and a wind turbine in the foreground. It is very misty. Some vertically mounted scaffolding boards lit with light from a sunset.A valley filled with fog. There is a yorkshire stone wall in the foreground and a sun is starting to set behind the hill.

There has been amazing cloud inversions around Huddersfield today.

The first two pictures are Scammonden Reservoir; the second, views over the Colne Valley (and out into the distance towards Emley Moor).

Gorgeous day!

A photo of mist/a low cloud inversion over a large reservoir. The water is so flat that it's perfectly reflecting the blue sky above, and the mist/cloud that is barely above the water. The bright sky and cloud is contrasted with a dark, curving bank on the right of the image.Another photo of the reservoir in the previous image. Again, the water reflects the bright blue sky above and the white mist just above the water. The tree covered far bank is visible through a break in the mist. With the reflection in the water, the image looks almost like it's mirrored top/bottom, and left/right.More low cloud/mist, this time in a valley between hills. The foreground- a bare elder tree and a stone wall - are crisply lit by the golden hour sun and the cloud looks smooth and flat.Yet another cloud inversion picture, again showing the mist in the valleys around hills. This is long distance shot, showing the mist extending in the valleys for miles. A few hilltops peak out through the mist, including one on the mid-ground. In the very far distance, a large TV antenna (Emley Moor mast) is just about visible, as is a much small tower (a Victorian folly tower on Castle Hill in Huddersfield).

I'm seeing a lot more sunrises now that we have a puppy. Amazing cloud inversion over Linthwaite and Slaithwaite this morning. Had the SLR around (again due to the puppy) so got some amazing shots.

We've got a great little music festival in the & called &Piano.

We bobbed down into village for an event this afternoon where the "&" were an oboe and bassoon, played by the principals from Opera North. I loved the sound of the bassoon - so round and full - and the dialogues between the wind instruments were fun.

A lovely way to spend an afternoon and we're so fortunate to have such events on our doorstep.

An A4 printout of the programme for &Piano event mentioned in the toot. The page lists the music played - pieces by Madeline Dring and her French influencers (Camille Saint-Saëns, Francis Poulenc and Gabriel Grovlez) - and other related music "if you enjoyed this". At the bottom are social media links (@andpianofest on Facebook, Instagram and x) and the funders logos.

Perfect weather forecast for tomorrow's #Golcar Lily Day.

Walked a loop around the today, to make the most of the usually muddy fields being frozen.

The rain & mud returns tomorrow, grrr.

The shadows of two people, stretched by the low winter sun along a snow covered country lane. Their legs are impossibly long and look more like tyre tracks than humans.A snow covered country road disappears around a bend. In the distance along the same line, there are two 150m tall antennae on a hilltop.

This morning, we went for a walk on Moor in the ().

There was a battle between rain clouds and sunshine the whole way around which made for dramatic skies, but thankfully the rain held off.

Plus, I got my fingers licked and nibbled by a very friendly sheep.

A curly-haired human, crouched down on one side of a wooden farm gate, and a sheep - white wool, black face, perfectly curved horns is on the other. The human's hands are reaching through the gaps in the gate and the sheep is sniffing/licking them.An old rusty metal gate, on top of three or four big stone steps. Beyond the gate, the steps continue up the hill into the distance alongside a traditional drystone wall. A rough stone path curves up a moorland hill. There is vegetation - grasses, ferns - on either side of the path but they're wearing their late autumn colours: the grass is pale and yellowed, the ferns dry and brown. It's a sunny day so most of the picture is brightly lit in golden light but the far left, where the ground climbs into a hill, is in the shadow the hill is casting.A moorland scene in autumn. Overlooking a "clough" - a valley formed by a stream, which feeds into a large valley/stream in the near distance. The foreground is lit by bright sunshine but the hills in the distance are dark, under the shadow of a heavy grey cloud.
