Do astrophotography, they said.
Itโll be fun, they said.
Take pretty photos of comets, they said.
And once again #comet12p is #starlinked #spamlink #astrophotography #astrodon

Okay, here we go again on #comet12p. Now with auto-focus and guiding ๐ฌ
A single 5 minute snap of #comet12p with the 50mm lens at f/4.
I need to do more collimation, obvs, but itโs already a lot better than yesterday.
1 minute of #comet12p Pons-Brooks as of 5 minutes ago.
An hours worth of data on #comet12p done, now itโs time for C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS). Rather a lot fainter, this is a single 5 minute exposure. Aiming to get 24 of these.
Finally a half decent set of #comet12p images. Hurray! Made the camera stare at it while I was making dinner.
You can see it has two tails, though the nickname seems far fetched. More ๐ค than ๐ tbh.
22 x 60 seconds.
Well I can see #comet12p okay tonight, but the spamlinking is continuous.
Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks getting photobombed by the International Space Station. And a bunch of spamlinks. And a piece of tumbling junk.

A single 30 second sub on #comet12p Pons-Brooks about half an hour ago.
Cleaned up after I got back home. The twilight is quite obvious; it was only 45 minutes after sunset. #comet12p #astrophotography #astronomy
Yep there it is. #comet12p #astronomy #astrophotography
Stalking the comet. #comet12p #astronomy #astrophotography
Too bad: The clouds were eventually gone, but when it finally got dark enough to make out #Comet12p #PonsBrooks on the photos of my amateur camera, it disappeared behind the trees. So, no chance of getting a shot of its tail. ๐
Still: A nice constellation of the crescent Moon, Jupiter (with three of its own moons), and Uranus. ๐

In addition, Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks will be seen nearby, below the Moon and a little to the right, a little further away than the distance of Jupiter. Binoculars or a telescope will probably be needed to see the comet.

I had a look at Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks, probably for the last time as it becomes less favourably placed for northern hemisphere observers. I could see it plainly through 15X 70mm binoculars, but it was one binocular field width above a very bright red light on a crane. So I'm not going to try imaging it.
Fritz Helmut Hemmerich photographed the comet from Tenerife in the Canary Islands.
Got a bit of clearing Monday night and was able to capture Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks on its way out of the inner solar system, not to return for 71 years. SO happy give this was from atop a deck amidst piles of #Seattle light pollution.
