I got a body mod today!
It's technically a conch piercing, but it's done with a biopsy punch and then tapered up. It's 6mm at the moment, and in a month we'll size down the jewellery to 5mm so that it finishes healing neatly. Then if I want to, I'll be able to stretch it back to 6mm (and maybe further).
Dimitri, guest piercing at Sage Studio, did it - they did my high nostril piercings last month.. and again, it was a fantastic experience.
Everything went smoothly. I felt comfortable the entire time. I was able to ask questions, as well as just chat about body modding. I was a nurse for a long time, and was watching their asceptic technique.. which was spot-on.
The piercing itself was quick. It was painful, I'm not going to lie. Because it's cartilage, there's a roughness to how it feels as it's being done. And it feels achey now as well. But I enjoy those feelings.. they're happy "I did a pretty thing to my body because it's MY body" feels, and I think that's the powerful thing about body modification.
I think it's my favourite piercing I've had done. I love the way it looks with the glass plug in it, and the way the light shines through it.
I'm already wondering about getting a matching one on the flat of my other ear.. 🤔
