Presumably #cutworms have attacked one of my tree collards, right at the sturdy looking stem, toppling it over!

The presumed cutworms have previously attacked kale plants, but only the leaves, going right for the stem... that is a bit brutal!

There is some hope the deeply buried root might spout some fresh leaves.

Hopefully can replant the chopped off part for another chance... as it is substantial.

First year we have seen this cutworm approach to plant decimation...
