Sans doute de la tripatouille quand j'ai activé #flatpak .

Vivement que la situation des paquets se clarifie : soit on revient aux repos de distrib, soit on switch sur #flathub ; cette entre-deux est pénible.

Et le repo #Fedora de Librewolf est à améliorer :

* Remplacer "repository" par "librewolf" dans le nom
* Ajouter la propriété "enabled=1"

It is a sad day, at the same time I look back and realize the journey was beautiful and taught me a lot.

I am no longer running a 100% #guix system. I got tired of things breaking, being removed without warning or explanation, undocumented things, cryptic error messages.

I am but one person and cannot afford to debug stuff everyday.

I therefore took the pragmatic choice of scripting some things on top of #fedora and spread the risk, with #guix #nix #flatpak and #dnf packages.

last character is Speaker-to-Animals, a Kzin that is a cat-like warrior species. He is just muscle and thinks that he can command and take over with his strength.
Also, to mention that both Nessus' people , the Puppeteers, and the Kzin have non-sentient females that are only meat for reproduction.
I cannot stress the misogyny and the cardboard one-dimensional characters in this.
And I cannot get past that rape joke at all.
Some so-called classics are best buried and forgotten. I cannot understand how the rape joke got past editing even in the 1970s.
I am not reading another Larry Niven book ever again.

Good Morning everyone.
So yesterday I was at my local sff book club, we meet once a month.
This month's book was Ringworld by Larry Niven.
I had to DNF this book. While the main idea is great, everything else is absolute shite. And to top it off, there was a rape joke in it.
Characters: the main character, Louis Wu, is just a two-dimensional know-it-all, have-done-it-all male who is 200 hundred years old and is totally unlikeable and did not care what happened to him.
Teela Brown is just there as the female equivalent of a plant. She has no character and is there to be put down by the main character or used as sex in order for the main character not to get bored or have to rape an alien named Nessus (it's written like that).
Nessus: a perceived mad alien from a species that are cowards (and more of a puppet than a leader). No character and no dimension, and only a gimmick to bring the others together.

Slowly tagging my SG library.

I've started making a list of tags I'd like to use, grouping them by similarity (Type of read like pleasure, ARCs, then MCs' identities, the simple Is This Monsters or not, the very important How Monstrous scale, kink scale - and more!).

Tagging 100+ books based on the content is a huge undertaking, though, so I'm starting with my log of DNFs... Even though there are 30+

Hier, après la mise à jour vers #Fedora 43 / #Gnome 49, #dnf plante 😱 .

Première fois que ça m'arrive.

Sur chaque action il me sortait :

SELECT hnum, blob FROM 'Packages': 11: database disk image is malformed

Ça fait de la peur, sérieux !

J'ai fait un

sudo dnf clean all

puis un

sudo rpm --rebuilddb

et tout semble être rentré dans l'ordre, enfin j'espère.

@tillmanreuter I guess that a good "average" between advantages of Fedora and Debian for self-hosting is #AlmaLinux and #RockyLinux. They are dnf-based and more stable (less cutting-edge updates) at the same time. As I recently found, their dnf (incl. RHEL) and Fedora's #dnf are quite different by default. Fedora's default dnf repositories follow other logic than all RHEL-compatible distros. And it's not fixable by one line of bash. (example/proof: #LaTeX dnf packages are completely different)
