🗑️ Finally deleted #instagram yesterday after going through the unnecessarily (and surely intentionally) slow "export your data" process several times because I kept missing the 4-day window that the download link was made available.

Earlier this summer I received a warning from Meta Quest that my 19 year old account was being used by a child.* They wanted me to confirm my age by sending them a photo of a government ID or credit card, which I was reluctant to do. Hence they suspended my Facebook, Instagram and Messenger account, I let the reactivation period lapse.
I'm actually glad it happened, this was the push I needed to de-Facebook my life. Luckily I had already downloaded and deleted most of my data from the services.
* I still don't know what caused this, it could be that my kids' use of a Quest headset on my account was analyzed in some way.

Hmm, apparently some #SocialMedia, #Facebook in this case, has an issue with histories of librarians. Shared the story on our library page, then shared it to local groups. One of the groups actually put the post as "pending" (i.e. on hold for review).
I feel so damn filthy every time I use FB. Only reason I log on to it is for the library's page, which our admin briefly deleted then decided to keep it (But that is another story).
Until that day, you'll be at a major cognitive disadvantage using any Meta products. #DeleteMeta
