5 Boring Things That Have a Bigger Impact Than AI Assistants on Dev Productivity

At scale, developers building apps with Swift and Xcode often face challenges like complexity, unreliable tools and incremental builds, and slow feedback, which can hinder momentum. In this post, we explore solutions:
Adopting Tuist features like "Selective testing" has gotten easier in our most recent Tuist version, 4.44.0. With one command, "tuist init" you can get selective testing in your Xcode projects in less than a minute.
I you don't believe us, check this one out:

💻 Coder sur Neovim avec un agent IA (CodeCompanion)
Petite démonstration de codage d'une application Python directement sous Neovim, assisté par CodeCompanion, un agent IA intégré. 🤖✨

What started as a tool to make Xcode intricacies manageable is becoming a one-stop shop for app development productivity. And because an image is worth a thousand words, check out @asmitbm amazing design work which is already in the makings

I recently stumbled across the capital 'W' motion in #vim. It moves the cursor to the beginning of the next word after a whitespace.
Combined with operator-pending commands like 'yaW' (yank a Word), 'caW' (change a Word), and the '.' operator to repeat the last command, you can save a lot of keystrokes! :catjam:
"Many organizations bootstrapping businesses treat their initial work as a disposable prototype. If it works, they’ll rewrite it with a more robust technology. But Tuist is a validated product and foundation that needs to be as future-proof as possible. And it’s bootstrapped, which means we don’t have the luxury of throwing extra money at problems or paying for services that abstract complexity away." #Elixir #Erlang #DevProductivity

Join me and Laura Taco, CTO of DX, for this live discussion about @dora! We’ll be discussing DORA metrics, measuring engineering teams, and continuous improvement.
There will be cautionary tales.
We strongly believe that optimizations of #Xcode workflows shouldn’t come at the expense of complexity for the users. The following example of our “tuist test” command running incrementally on CI and re-using compilation artifacts is a good example of it #Swift #DevX #devproductivity
Today's toy seems to be @atuin https://github.com/ellie/atuin to sync, search and backup shell history #bash #shell #commandline #devproductivity
Seeing our CI times going down thanks to Tuist and binary caching makes us soooo happy 🥳

Missed our discussion today about code reviews? Maybe it didn't work with your schedule and timezone?
We'll gather again tomorrow at 10AM UTC / 11AM CET / 3:30PM IST.
Join the Google Group at https://dora.community for details on how to join the meeting.
I'm at a symphonic orchestra concert, and I noticed there's a guy standing near a big drum who has a productivity of only about 3-5%. I don't think he would pass performance reviews #mckinsey #devproductivity #irony
