Taken this day, 2018, looking across the Forth from Blackness Castle to the Rosyth Naval Dockyards, and the enormous HMS Prince of Wales aircraft carrier being fitted out https://www.flickr.com/photos/woolamaloo_gazette/42238828302/

Reading about the awful #JapanEarthquake and the #Devonport #Dockyard #Nuclear Alert starts going off - then I realise it's a Bank Holiday and it's the normal Monday 11:30 test... 😰😰
@Vivaldi@social.vivaldi.net Interesting effect on this page (https://dockyard.com/blog/2023/08/28/introducing-elixir-oasis), when I scroll up and down with the arrow keys, the address bar displays a loading state very briefly. This is not the only time I've seen this. Looks like #DockYard has some JS that is running on the scroll event that does some things, but I don't know why it results in the browser showing a loading state.
Today's Flickr photo with the most hits: HMS M33, Portsmouth.
M33 is an M29-class monitor of the Royal Navy built in 1915. She saw active service in the Mediterranean during the First World War and in Russia during the Allied Intervention in 1919. She was used subsequently as a mine-laying training ship, fuelling hulk, boom defence workshop and floating office, being renamed HMS Minerva and Hulk C23 during her long life.

I received this flood alert on my mobile some time ago. Strange for me because even though I live adjacent to #Dockyard, it's #zone3 #London, and I can't imagine #flood in this area.
Now all sorts of WH #questions have crossed my mind since then. Not because I have never seen a flood, but vice-versa. I have seen it a lot growing up in a remote village in #Bihar, and almost every year since then, till college -- irrespective of my location.
For any #Portsmouth or #Hampshire people with an interest in #Astronomy and #Stargazing the free event at the #Dockyard is back for 2023. It will be taking place from 18:00 until 21:00 on Wednesday January 25th but you do need to book free tickets if you want to attend. There will be a #telescope or two, experts from the #RoyalNavy, space engineers from #Airbus, and an #astrophysicist or two as well.
And probably thick cloud cover if I know how these things pan out.
