USU pres.: Five the Hierophant + Zeug | Neue Zukunft - 08.03.2026

Neue Zukunft, Sunday, March 8 at 08:00 PM GMT+1

Unlimited Sonic Use presents:

Five The Hierophant - UK/PL | Agonia Records

https://five-the-hierophant.bandcamp.com

Genre: Abysmal Avantgarde Doom Jazz

FFO: ZU, Wyatt E., OM, Neptunian Maximalism

For 10 years, the mysterious collective from Croydon, South London, has been practicing musical hypnosis through a fascinating discography. With "Apeiron", Five The Hierophant has found the ultimate formula, the quintessence of its heady music, interweaving with taste and certain delicacy the different elements which forge this very particular sound. Between Doom, Drone, Jazz and Post Metal, the music of Five The Hierophant is a true sonic adventure, enhanced by the inimitable saxophone of Jon Roffey, forging musical landscapes in the form of dark and meditative rituals.

Zeug - GER

https://zeug.bandcamp.com/

Genre: Drone Punk

FFO: Swans, Shellac, Godspeed You! Black Emperor

Zeug are a Berlin-based experimental drone-punk trio known for their thunderous sound and hypnotic live shows. Since forming in 2015, they’ve released a Demo, two Singles and 3 Eps. 2024 they released the acclaimed debut double album 'Vessel' – mastered by Doug Henderson (swans, the necks). They shared the stage with artists like Big Brave, GNOD & Anna von Hausswolff.

Ended Thursday and welcomed Friday after a walk in the rain with Sunset Mission the third full-length record from Bohren & der Club of Gore. It is their first album to feature sax player Christoph Clöser, more explicitly exploring jazz than earlier recordings.

The liner notes include a quote from Matt Wagner's Grendel comic book, which reads: "Alone in the comforting darkness the creature waits. As confusion reigns on this hellish stage, the deafening grind of machinery, the odious clot of chemical waste. Still, the trail of his ultimate prey leads through this steely maze to these, the addled offspring of the modern world." - Wikipedia

The smokiest, most noir of the releases by this project so far. A good way to end the week and start the weekend!

Ended Thursday and welcomed Friday after a walk with Road To Somewhere by Somewhere Off Jazz Street, self released in 2008.

"Somewhere off Jazz Street is the jazz influenced music project of musician Buz Hendricks. The dark, late night sound mixes improvisation, sound effects and the sound of the saxophone. The music is all played by Buz using electronically generated sounds played from a keyboard."

This is the fourth release of the project and as the cover, LP and song titles suggest takes a more space orientated theme than the noirish one of previous releases.
