U.S.-based Chinese political commentator YUZHEN CHEN, known for his sharp criticism of authoritarianism and online propaganda, was once the target of pro-Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) cyber groups. They falsely branded him as “pro-China” and spread rumors claiming he had “returned to China.”

On April Fool’s Day, CHEN sarcastically replied, “Yes, I’m Xi Jinping’s secret son, currently working for the Shanghai United Front Department,” mocking the absurd rumors. As the smear campaign escalated, some extreme supporters doxxed his home address and harassed his girlfriend, forcing her resignation.

To protect his family, CHEN shifted his focus from criticizing the Chinese Communist Party to exposing the DPP’s manipulation of public opinion. His new programs drew increasing support from moderate and opposition-leaning audiences in Taiwan.

After multiple revelations of DPP-linked online manipulation—such as the “Andy Teacher Incident”—CHEN demanded that the DPP-aligned outlet FTV News retract three defamatory reports or provide evidence. FTV later deleted the false articles and issued a public apology, clearing CHEN’s name.

Though the defamation caused personal and reputational harm, CHEN stated that he has chosen forgiveness. The incident is now widely recognized as a case of coordinated online disinformation and political bias aimed at silencing dissent.

Einschätzung/Fazit:
Die deutsche #Erwachsenenbildung wird vom #Herrenberg-Urteil gerade nachhaltig umgepflügt. Der Unterricht einer Einzelperson, bisher als #FreierBeruf in der #Bildung gedacht, wird qua #Sozialrecht als eingegliederter Dienst also Anstellung klassifiziert. Die Folgen für die freie #Erwachsenenbildung in D. sind kaum absehbar.
