In 2023 I released an that I wanted to sound more hopeful than the previous albums I'd released that year. I had a sense that something wasn't right, perhaps internally but definitely externally. I also wanted to demonstrate different styles I'd experimented with over the previous few years...That album was A Sense of Unease. I was so excited when reviewed it as

"...raw and utterly devastating... vulnerability gives way to hope... Brutal and yet, beautiful"...

Hi everyone.

I've opened a mastodon account to see if there's a community here interested in independent , and .

I've got a lot of news to share with 3 major projects being released this year and would like to connect with potential collaborators and fans.

If you like owning your music on or then that's also great.

Been on and in several times and still overwhelmed by these small successes.

Emotional alternative electro is me.

Today's random #Discogs choice The Sounds Of EMS Electroic Sound magazine free CD 2019. I found this to be unlistenable to my ears. I turned it off around track 5, just wasn't for me.

Bought this magazine this week, Electronic Sound. Has an awesome best albums of 2023 list, which I’ve been exploring. I checked if the magazine is on Mastodon, but alas it’s using the usual suspects (FB, X, Instagram). The has a long way to go still…maybe 2 years more before a mag like this goes to the fedi? It took several years for culture pubs etc to go to Twitter in Web 2.0 too, so it is part of how mainstreaming new tech works. Still, come on , join us…

Negativland released their fourth album, “Escape From Noise”

This was my introduction to the band and it changed forever how I looked at music and art. I’d heard some experimental sounds, but nothing as clever and complex as this. I suppose it helped that they have some actual songs and overall more structure to each track as compared to their earlier records.

Playing “Christianity Is Stupid” on college radio in 1988 was always fun, and a bit risky. I got a couple complaints from the usual suspects (“communism is good” probably didn’t help either, 😂).

I would use “Quiet Please” as my show opening theme during a second stint as a DJ in the late 90s.

The track I think best represents this album and Negativland’s overall genius is “Yellow Black and Rectangular”. It shows their editing and mixing skills and is darkly humorous👇
