DiscogsDienstag: Frank Zappa – Sheik Yerbouti
Was soll ich über Frank Zappa schreiben? Großartiger Musiker und Komponist, Multiinstrumentalist, fast Präsidentschaftskandidat, hat am gleichen Tag Geburtstag wie ich, leider 1993 gestorben. Scheiß Krebs.
Sheik Yerbouti war 1979 die 26. von einer gewaltigen Zahl an Veröffentlichungen Zappas (die offizielle Discographie listet 174 Alben auf!) und das erste Album, das auf seinem eigenen Label „Zappa Records“ erschien. Und es ist das meistverkaufte seiner Alben. Der Albumtitel ist von „Shake Your Booty“ abgeleitet, die Texte sind satirisch, parodistisch und obszön, bestes Beispiel ist das wohl bekannteste Lied von Zappa „Bobby Brown (Goes Down)“, das aufgrund der Lyrics in amerikanischen Radios nicht gespielt wurde, der Rest der Welt sang jedoch unbekümmert mit. In Deutschland erreichte die Single den 4. Chartplatz, in Norwegen und Schweden sogar Platz 1.
In anderen Songs nimmt Zappa Peter Frampton („I Have Been In You“), die Rolling Stones („Jones Crusher“) und die damalige Disco-Welle („Dancing Fool“) auf’s Korn und macht weitere sexuelle Anspielungen („Baby Snakes“, „Jewish Princess“). Auch ein paar Punk-Persiflagen sind dabei („Broken Hearts Are for Assholes“, „I’m So Cute“, „Tryin‘ to Grow a Chin“).
Zu Frank Zappa gibt es nur drei Meinungen:
- Ich liebe seine Musik
- Ich hasse seine Musik
- Ich kenne nur „Bobby Brown“

DiscogsDienstag: Die Ärzte – Die Ärzte
Das dritte Studioalbum der selbsternannten besten Band der Welt, Die Ärzte aus Berlin, war das Erste nach dem Ausstieg von Bassist Sahnie. Den Bass spielte der Produzent Manfred „Manne“ Praeker, Ex-Partner von Nina Hagen, der auch in ihrer Band Bass spielte, aus der dann Spliff hervorgegangen ist.
Das Album wurde im Oktober 1986 veröffentlicht und im Januar 1987 von der Bundesprüfstelle für jugendgefährdende Schriften auf den Index gesetzt, es durfte fortan nicht mehr an Minderjährige verkauft werden. Grund dafür war das Lied Geschwisterliebe. Zusammen mit der Compilation „Ab 18“, auf der Die Ärzte alle zu der Zeit indizierten Songs und noch einige mehr veröffentlichten, ist das Album „Die Ärzte“ heute noch auf dem Index. Die beide ersten Alben „Debil“ und „Im Schatten der Ärzte“ wurden 1987 ebenfalls überprüft und „Debil“ wurde wegen der Songs „Claudia hat ’nen Schäferhund“ und „Schlaflied“ auch als jugendgefährdend eingestuft. Das wurde 2004 aufgehoben.
Sahnies Ausstieg hat in etwa eine Lücke hinterlassen wie ein Finger, der aus einem Glas Wasser herausgezogen wird. Die Hauptsongschreiber waren nun mal Bela B. und Farin Urlaub und ich meine der Bassist hat auch nur ein Lied auf dem zweiten Album gesungen. Kreativ und künstlerisch somit ein verschmerzbarer Verlust. Auch seine überlieferte Aussage „Ihr könnt mich nicht rausschmeißen, ihr braucht mein Gesicht“ hat sich im Nachhinein nicht als zutreffend erwiesen, die Auflösung nach dem vierten Album „Das ist nicht die ganze Wahrheit…“ (1988) währte nur 5 Jahre und Die Ärzte sind heute noch immer aktiv und beliebt wie eh und je.
Ich habe „Die Ärzte“ (das Album) schon lange nicht mehr gehört, schließlich war ich erst 18 Jahre alt, als das Album erschien. Damals™ habe ich es gern und oft gehört, einen richtigen Favoriten hatte ich allerdings nicht, nur „Jenseits von Eden“, die Coverversion des Hits von Nino de Angelo, geschrieben u. a. von Drafi Deutscher unter seinem Pseudonym Kurt Gebegern, fand ich immer doof.
