Francis Edward Clark, Congregationalist minister, writes on a thriving church in Budapest. Evangelism, ministry to the blind, veterans, prisoners, sex workers, homeless refugees.

I’ve seen churches oppose aiding refugees— even protest or call the school board if others do so. Is this evangelism?

How can you work towards a church that is like this?

"They [Christians in Budapest] hold nine evangelistic meetings every week, and as many more for the Juniors. They visit the three great prisons of Budapest every week, to which they now have free access, they have a mission for blind soldiers as well as for blind children, have meetings for fallen women, and also for the thousands of people who live in box cars in the outskirts of the city, because there are no homes for them in the terribly congested metropolis which shelters hundreds of thousands of refugees."

People should refrain from forming opinions about individuals they haven't personally met and gotten to know for a significant period.

Empathy in action is like a warm hug for the soul, creating a world where understanding flourishes. 🤝💓 It's about walking in someone else's shoes, offering comfort and kindness.

@TootUncommon @Vincarsi @JessTheUnstill bye tootuncommon, I look forward to reading posts by Jess and Vincarsi from now on. Having been homeless for a year or two in my teens I understand their posts but yours aren't informed by either reality, science or empathy. It's a difficult problem, not black and white at all and individual, not generalizable. Seriously, reconsider your stance on this issue.
