One clarification please, if wars can be fought "forever" and "very successfully" with these upper medium grade weapons then why the need for the highest end?

It is easy to fight a "forever" war and a "very successful" war but is it possible to win such a war? Case in point, #Afghanistan with its #EnduringFreedom and #Iraq with its #IraqiFreedom.
