Today in steel harvesting: C-channel fence posts!

Since I now know they have been cast in concrete, I just put the farm jack foot further off and a bit of brute force pulled the entire thing out, foundation below and nettles on top.

Then Mjölnir got to work and I not only freed the steel but also some nice fieldstones I'm collecting for another project (no, not a wall).

Soon I have enough steel parts to make some forks for the tractor.

A large steel fence post is being pulled out of the ground with its entire concrete and stone foundation by a black and red farm jack, which is sort of a lever that climbs a holed bar with repeat application of human weight. In the background a weedy garden.Same steel fence post, now pulled out of the ground and fallen over, revealing a solid 40cm deep and 30 cm diameter foundation of concrete cast around rocks. There's several cm of soil and nettles on top of that. A fence in progress of removal is dangling behind. The foundation and fence post on the ground. You can see the large field stones that wedged it in place, with concrete cast around them. The post must've also been pounded into the ground, as it protrudes a long part below the foundation. The post is a pretty thick steel C-channel.Same post, now freed from most of the concrete. A very large mallet named Mjölnir stands next to it. Some nice fieldstones came out of the concrete mostly intact.
