OK, so here's the data. Kinda. We're running second in a non-existent race to do the most fixes in the UK this year.

As for the the Fixed / Partial Fix / Binned stats, I'm only monitoring our Binned rate as these are the items that have gone to landfill. Everything else has managed to stay in use one way or another and that is what counts to me.

Today was our second #RepairCafe in #RugbyTown in May. Things have, as expected, quietened down a little since we started opening twice a month. Enough items to keep us busy to the end of the session, but not so busy that we have to turn people away. I think that two people did leave without getting their items repaired, but I think that was because they turned up too near to the end of the session. New #repairers joined today too.

I shall confess that I have recently built an adjustable bench top power supply with an old laptop charger and some bits off eBay and I took it with me today to do some real world testing. It passed with flying colours so I'm quite proud of that. (AKA no one died and nothing exploded.)

I'll upload our stats once #RepairMonitor has made them available.

Results from Saturday's #RepairCafe in #RugbyTown. We use #RepairMonitor to log all of our work so that it's captured by Repair Cafe International. This gives us a few stats and thanks to the fact that we have a session on the first Saturday of the month and that we have two sessions per month, we are currently at the top of the Items Through the Door chart. The percentage fixed measure isn't one that we get competitive about. As long as the end of life number is low, then we're happy.

A donut chart showing that in 2025 we have fixed 59% of the items that we've worked on, 16% were end of life and got binned and the rest were partially fixed or need parts. This means that we kept 84% of the items out of landfill.Of the UK Repair Cafes that use Repair Monitor, we are currently the ones who have had the most items through the door.

Another 1st Saturday and another #repaircafe in #RugbyTown. This one was quieter than usual. Or maybe we should say less chaotic.

Today's mix included a stereo that was in for its third session and was finally condemned. The processor seems to be fried. One of the few bits we can't replace.

We gave a shovel a new handle. That required planing the handle and adding a bolt. We don't often need woodworking tools, but thankfully we have a Library of Things and that contained a plane.

The most satisfying item for me was a folding pram frame that wouldn't lock in place anymore. Looks like the manufacturing process damaged the riveted hinge pins. We drilled them out and replaced them with bolts and it's as good as new. The perfect example of a design that discourages repair of minor failures by fixing everything together with rivets. #fixer #repair @repaircafe

So, having uploaded our fixes from yesterday onto #RepairMonitor we can now see how we are doing officially.

I should point out that I really don't think that all UK repair cafes upload their results to Repair Monitor, so this isn't very official at all, but it makes us feel good.

We were expecting (read hoping for) a quiet session today to allow us to also do some organising, It was slightly less busy (chaotic) than usual, but still kept us busy for the full three hours.

The forms haven't been uploaded to #RepairMonitor yet, but when they have been I'll post the charts.

For now here are some photos from the event.
