@Ruth_Mottram Hope you had a good trip - I'm currently in Finland, got here with train to Stockholm, 11h ferry (but with fantastic skærgård views) to Åbo, then train journeys in #Finland. When planning I had hoped to avoid planes, but I either had to reverse my whole route, or include the three baltic countries and get another ferry from Kleipeda - it became too much so ended up with plane ticket Helsinki-Copenhagen. But otherwise nice feeling getting so far away without flying. Other than environmental benefits it feels more real to travel this way, last evening I saw a 'distance to cities signpost' with Esbjerg 1880 km, that's a long way...

Finally approaching Copenhagen 25 hours after leaving Abisko..
My ride today was a little less productive workwise than I'd hoped but enlivened by this inspiring book, bought at #Abisko national park centre. Lots of adventures to be planned in Sweden over coming months and years.... #FlyingLess #CrossborderRail.

It's a wonderful day for a train ride, the Øresund is so blue, plenty of wind for the turbines. Crossing into Sweden seamlessly (not even a passport check today). #flyingLess #CrossborderRail

@Broadfork The one key issue that was missing from the programme is the highly skewed distribution of flying - small numbers fly enormously more than the majority. #flyingless

@sellathechemist Thanks, will catch up with this on iplayer. I don’t know what it will take for people to decide to fly less.
