So, what have we learned:

#GiffGaff in this case is probably the cheapest. #Voxi comes out in second.
The "main" carriers are hardly competing with each other, and can have widely different pricing and tariff structures.

Basically, it pays to shop around.

#Voxi won't let you put money down up front (that i could see). Which is a little annoying. Some back of the napkin maths suggests you end up paying around £44 extra than #GiffGaff for the same period... ish.

Lets dive into #Voxi, a similar cheap network like #GiffGaff, that uses the #Vodafone network.

Ok, more expensive than #GiffGaff, but you do get more data and certain apps like WhatsApp are just free.

Ok, better than #EE, but still not great. £13 more expensive *for the same network*.

I also can't tell if there's EU roaming, as the website is vague. But they're incredibly loud about the mid contract rises (wonder why that is)

So by the end of the 25 months, you're paying £17 more than #GiffGaff for the same network

Next up is #GiffGaff - which uses the #o2 network under the hood anyway (and it's who I'm with).

Looking at Phone contracts for my partner. I've been with #GiffGaff for a little while, and am pretty happy. But i didn't realise just *how much cheaper* they are compared to the standard highstreet brands!

£20 cheaper than #EE or #O2 for the same Phone and a better deal. Just... wha?!

@DavidTanner far as i know #giffgaff doesnt support VoWIFI/WiFi Calling only O2 pay monthly and the only MVNO that use O2 network Sky/Tesco support VoWIFI/WiFi Calling. No VoWIFI/WiFi Calling on O2 Pay and Go either. All other UK networks even pay and go support WiFi Calling just O2 been the odd one out. #O2UK

OMG ! Just got a reply from #GiffGaff about the ongoing issue of no web data but things like ssh work. I can even make and receive calls. Found out that others in our village are having the same issue as they're on 02 which GiffGaff hangs off. Anyway the complaints dept aka Jonathan has finally admitted there is an issue with the mast that was not on their system and they too have reported it. Although it is out of control if I message back just as soon as I get fully working data once an engineer has repaired the mast I will be compensated for not having a fully working service for the said length of time.

Hello #Apple people. I have recently purchased my first Apple phone (second hand, via #Giffgaff, because it supports nedtech that android doesn't.
So, I've bought some #AirTags.
How do I get into the box?

OK, I have a well equipped kitchen, so I'm sure I have a knife that I could fillet the box with (or given my sight loss, myself).
I must admit I hoard "useful" boxes, so maybe Apple is just being #green and suggesting I use a geological hammer and then put the remains in recycling?

Getting really F off with #GiffGaff at the moment. Both my wife and I on the same network have had no data as such for the past few days and other people in our village on the o2 network have had the same. I reported that I can make calls and send sms, also ping IP addresses and domains. I also pointed out that I can SSH to my servers but I cannot browse the web or use apps like WhatsApp. I also said that I have rebooted and cleaned my simcard and so has my wife.
They respond with "So have you rebooted or removed you sim and cleaned it?"
To which I reply and ask them if they even read my previous report and that we both above done the above and it's not both of our sims !
I then get a reply from Ciaran saying please click this link to order a new sim card.
WTF is wrong with these people !!!!???

they won't be switching off #2G completely but they'll be moving people off it

I was not expecting #O2 after being the slowest to kill off #3G to announce a 2G switchoff plan in the #UK first. They still have a lot of legacy devices on their network although all customers should have access to #4G calling by the end of the year (afaik #giffgaff is rolling it out and O2 PAYG is yet to roll it out along with 5G support).

Not doing well on my mission to sort out an eSIM service for our trip to the UK. #giffgaff apparently can't handle SIM replacement (I already have a physical SIM, so just need to replace it with an eSIM) between 9:30pm and 4:30am BST).

OK, so I'll try Three UK - they were good before. They're performing essential maintenance though so I can't buy an eSIM from them either.
