Excellent. Didn't know Bratrice Rana's Goldberg intrrpretation, so glad to encounter it now.
A surprising interpretation, eye opening. I will stay with this recording for a while and see what it does.

So many versions of the #GoldbergVariations and here's another, reimagined for chamber forces (violins, oboe, flute, continuo etc) as Bach might've done, an utter delight. Led by the wonderful #RachelPodger the music transforms into sonatas, trio sonatas, concerti movements etc.

My kayak and I, and friend, with a nice kayak they got for next to nothing, got into the river and did #MessingAround in our boats.
And now to listen to my favourite Marco Salcito playing the #GoldbergVariations on classical guitar. Keyboards are grand. And Marco on guitar cannot play as many notes at the same time or over as many octaves.
But the notes he plays and how he plays them opens the Variations up as being emotional and sensual delights.

At the other end of the spectrum the Icelandic pianist #VíkingurÓlafsson has released his #Bach #GoldbergVariations and it's everything you could hope for as an interpretation of Bach on a modern piano. Beautifully varied touch, sprightly rhythms, cantabile melodic lines, sure and enlightening architecture. He just can't seem to do any wrong in the recording studio and his choice of repertoire.
