This Non-fiction read showcases the case that inspired many writers during the golden age of murder mysteries in the 20s and 30s. The writing is straightforward and the coverage is engaging. This case sticks out because the murderer was the first solicitor hung in Britain. #goodreads

I highly recommend the cozy mystery writer Fiona Grace. She has many series set in lovely locations. This series is set in southern California is my favorite. The new addition is a short read with our heroine again the main suspect in a murder. Can she find the real murderer and save her small business. #goodreads

I was almost going to DNF this book. However, few books have ever tricked me as much as this book did. I literally did not see the twist coming at all. This book is not for those who want a comfortable read. It challenges your ethics and after it is over, causes to reevaluate everything that happened. #goodreads

I loved watching the Vera Stanhope mysteries. This new series from the author is set in the Orkneys is an engaging new story with investigators who you can really follow. The mystery is full of Cleeves regular devices, red herrings and many suspects. Looking forward to volume 2. #goodreads

Ten books into the year - I feel like I have cheated a bit: Black Dog was more of a short story than a novella, let alone a novel - but The Hotel Avocado by Bob Mortimer will be my next book of 2026.
Although I am a huge fan of Bob’s work, I did find “The Satsuma Complex” a little underwhelming, but I feel the need to give Bob a second chance.
