Week 28: Receive a station on 6m via sporadic E – I not only received but worked this summer a couple of stations via sporadic E in IS0, UR, YL and YO. Most in FT8 but at least one in CW and one in SSB. All with QRP power (5 W) into a compromise antenna on the balcony.

#hamchallenge week 28: Receive a station on 6m via sporadic E. Well, the #6m Es season is about to end; typically it starts in mid May and ends in mid August. At this time (09:45 UTC) there are only a few HB9 stations coming in on FT8 (via sporadic E, working JAs!), and the local beacon SR5DTM is very loud on CW. There is no activity on CW and SSB right now, and I will take this as an opportunity to call CQ on 50095 kHz for some time to see if someone bites! #hamradio #HC28S @hamchallenge

A view of a wind turbine taken from a car on a highway, with a beautiful blue sky and some clouds in the background. There are several antennas belonging to the SR5TDM 10m/6m/VHF/UHF/SHF beacons ob top of it. Along the tower, "TDM ELECTRONICS" is written in large black letters.

This map shows the grids I've worked over the last month on #QRP 6m FT8, since getting an N4HER aluminum dipole for $20. Furthest contact was a station 1881 km away in Quebec on the Gulf of St. Lawrence.

I'm not sure how I'd confirm after the fact which were sporadic e and which may have been F2 or tropospheric ducting. But I assume some of these were so I'm giving myself a win for #HC28S

If you're aiming for the @hamradiochallenge@mas.to #HC28S, go for it now! Band's open, I'm finishing my pota activation on the magic band alone.

@hamchallenge The condx were terrible and I really, really hoped for a 6m qso, but nothing happened. I did hear F4JRC, about 2000 km away, on the magic band #HC28S.

Contacting other xOTA stations wasn't as easy as the usual P2P or P2S, but I did get ~15 in the log, not counting multiple parks and multiple ops setups. #HC16S

I even had some CW qsos with other hams with whom I share this instance #HC38S, but I couldn't find someone for #HC30 #hamchallenge

@hamchallenge

POTA RO-0109, The People's Palace, built on labour of communist political prisoners houses The Contemporary Art Museum. It is 270 by 240 by 90 meters tall, with another 90 meters of sub basements. Another less useful thing it houses beyond the museum is the Parliament and its two chambers.

There was a flurry of activity today in the park: Romania had a rerun of our presidential elections. I nominate this for my unusual location #HC13S #HC29S #HC28S

Let's try a 10fer for @hamchallenge : :alex_crazy:

I went out today for POTA RO-0109 #HC29S in front of this communist mammoth #HC13S, operated all day on 36Ah #HC36S (ha!). I worked one DX, the ITU HQ, out of today's DXpeds PJ4M, VP8DPD and V73MT #HC07S, 14 DXCCs #HC37s, plus all xOTA #HC16S I heard. I had 20 contacts on CW #HC38S including @YO3AX and @G0TRT. I even heard F4JRC on 6m #HC28S. I fixed my audio card #HC45S and used the antenna I built with the YL #HC33S.
