I suppose, when I decided to try to grow #Haskap berries, I must have thought that they were just a bush, no bigger than a highbush blueberry. Nope.

These grow as big as a Currant, 6-7 ft tall.

It got crowded, so I transplanted some. Now I'm going to fill an orchard with them this year. 🌱

I've grown 12s in buckets to move inside greenhouse when producing berries. They ripen again almost every other day.
These buckets will be be planted in my orchard on the ocean.

Green fussy leaves around a single long blue berry. The berry resembles a long blueberry but is a Haskap berry.

Not just any robin, I've seen this one before.. twice a day.. it sees me too & sneaks around. I chased it off the #Haskap bushes 2 days ago, & caught it hopping along the ground to escape view, then eat from below.. Now it watches for me, before eating the haskap berries. Smart bird. but, I'll have no more of that. Plus, now a raccoon is crapping on the way to the garden. Weeding made him change route, I saw him crapping in strawberry plants this morning.
The deer hasn't been back.

Oh, that definitely sounds yum! If it's available here, I haven't found it. I do need to process the #Haskap berries that I picked early in the summer. Picking some kind of fruit and making jam from it is on my essential summer checklist. So is swimming in a lake but I sadly missed out on that one.

#kitchen activities today:
It's going to be another very hot day but my apartment is still tolerable so I made a batch of pinto beans, threw the #haskap berries I picked yesterday in the freezer for a cooler day to process them, and I brined my Napa cabbage to make #kimchi this evening. This part of the summer is FULL of activities that I want to enjoy: 2 art festivals, and 2 #PowWows in the area. I want to get out on my #bicycle, and drink #beer on patios.

There's a half-dozen older bushes in the ground, and a dozen more in buckets. The birds take all the berries if you are not prepared. Now I'm trying to put two in each bucket, a male and female.

I've heard other names, and there's many genetic flavors now, many patented.
I don't even know what type I have, and I've cloned so many now, I can't tell which are which anymore. They start producing leaves early, berries by summer, birds will eat them all if not covered with mesh @tc_morekindness
