What I've looked for on @medium in vain: Tomorrow night starts the first Yom Kippur since Israel was attacked. No acknowledgement of it in the blog, newsletter, Staff Picks, etc.
I'm not looking for a big political statement about the war: just some recognition via, say, High Holy Days foods, traditions, etc. Are #Medium writers not writing about this? Or are they being snubbed? I have no idea.

It's that time of year. The High Holydays are upon us. I wish you a happy new year, and if I've done something to offend you over the past year*, (a) are you surprised, and (b) I apologize. If you've done something offensive (with one exception), I accept your apology. The exception is: If you voted for, or plan to vote for, Donald Trump, then the only way to atone is to vote for Harris/Walz in November. That's how you apologize for *that* offense.

With the advent of #RoshHashonah & the #HighHolyDays marking the #Jewish New Year, it is now officially 21 years since my sister & I cut ties with our mother & her partner. That means our estrangement is old enough to drink, and given the conditions under which that became unavoidable, why shouldn't it? (Actually I can think of plenty of reasons, but it's an adult and can make its own choices.) So #LShanaTova, and if your relatives are toxic pieces of shit, wipe & flush them out of your life.
Tomorrow is Rosh Hashanah, and I am currently working on my menu and doing what prep I can tonight.
I generally don't do much with my religion, but the antisemitism lately has been so damn rampant, I've decided I'm just going to Jew harder.
Anyway, my current plans for food are pot roast, onion noodle kugel, apple and honey challah, and homemade apple cider.
Any good ideas what I can add to this? We have a decent pantry and I don't want to go shopping-- so just hit me with what you've got and I'll find something that works.
