Series of screen shots (taken from Laura Basset's article on Nightcap), from Twitter dating back to 2011 to 2013, in which Trump claims Obama will start a war with Iran to get elected, will attack Iran to get re-elected, will attack Iran in order to save face, and reminds people that he (Trump) predicted that President Obama would attack Iran "because of his inability to negotiate properly-not skilled!". None of which, of course, happened. But we all should know by now that Trump always does what he accuses others of.

Im Deutschen ist es näher an der antiken Bedeutung von ungebildeter Laie (mit auch und gerade abwertendem Sinn) geblieben. Wahlrechtlich war der Geisteszustand in Deutschland schon 1849 nicht per se ein Ausschlussgrund, sondern formalisiert über eine bestehende Vormundschaft. Bloß in der Schweiz war #Blödsinn teils bis 1980 explizit genannt (Solothurn, seither »Geistesschwäche«). [8/12]

Außer Ohio schließen auch noch Kentucky und Mississippi »idiots« vom #Wahlrecht aus. Washington hat sie anderweitig in der #Verfassung. Das #Wort war und ist aber nicht ganz identisch mit den deutschen #Idiot⁠en. Im deutschen Sprachraum hat man die seinerzeit als »Blödsinnige« bezeichnet.
