#InternetHygiene + #Simplify challenge: Delete 3 accounts you don't need. I went through my password manager and scrolled to find accounts I didn't know or didn't use.
Today I deleted:
1) Salon booking platform. Decent hair. Crappy attitudes.✅
2) Postcrossing. This was sad 😞. Many places don't even take postcards any longer. The world is a bit too adversarial to send my data out there at the moment. ✅
3) Local news site. Don't need a login to read; comments aren't productive. ✅
Ubuntu is a pretty user friendly open source OS with privacy in mind. It is supported by Canonical, a company that values user privacy and security.
I run Ubuntu Touch on my FairPhone 4. I run PopOS, an Ubuntu derivative, on my System76 laptop, which is open source hardware. I run Ubuntu or Debian on my home servers and entertainment machines.
I have a Windows PC disconnected from the Internet, just in case I need to play a game that doesn't run on my System76 laptop, but I've found that support for Windows games on Linux is actually really good now.
Running proprietary software is always a privacy concern, but I'm not that paranoid. Having open source hardware and operating system is a good foundation for Internet hygiene.
