#InvasionOfLA

In this thread I've talked quite a bit about why I believe the Trumpenreich invasion of Los Angeles represents a replicable model for a fascist regime trying to create ready-grow armies around the country, to consolidate power in the executive branch, and enforce a fascist dictatorship. Well, I'm not sure this qualifies as an I told you so moment because the process being laid down here so obviously points to further fascist military action in Democrat cities, but a recently-obtained memo about a semi-secret meeting between the Department of Homeland Security, and the Department of Defense, makes it pretty clear the Trump regime has its eyes on putting more soldiers in our streets, and soon.

commondreams.org/news/leaked-m

'Here It Comes': Leaked Hegseth Memo Suggests More US Troops on US Streets

"New reporting based on a leaked briefing memo from a recent meeting between high-level officials at the Department of Homeland Security and Defense Department sparked fresh warnings on Saturday about the Trump administration's internal plans to increase its domestic use of the U.S. military.

According to Greg Sargent of The New Republic, which obtained the memo, the document "suggests that Trump's use of the military for domestic law enforcement on immigration could soon get worse."

The "terrifying" memo—which the outlet recreated and published online with certain redactions that concealed operational and personnel details—"provides a glimpse into the thinking of top officials as they seek to involve the Defense Department more deeply in these domestic operations, and it has unnerved experts who believe it portends a frightening escalation."

As the article notes, it turns out that Defense Secretary and noted day drinker Pete Hegseth, has a little brother, Phillip, who is himself a senior advisor to DHS Secretary Kristi Noem. Shockingly, Hegseth the younger has terrible ideas about looping in more military forces to participate in the Trump regime's ethnic cleansing mass deportation project in American cities; ideas which, coincidentally I'm certain, track closely with his older brother Pete's statements before Congress outlining the administration's desire to deploy the National Guard all over America to fight "insurrections" of people legally-protesting Gestapo crimes and civil rights violations in their cities. To put the cherry on top of this fascist shitcake, Phillip Hegseth's memo specifically references the collaboration on the ground between military forces, and Trump's Gestapo, during the invasion of LA; which feels like the smoking gun that proves my argument, except virtually nobody in the Trumpenreich appears to be trying to keep their plans to deploy military forces against migrants and their political enemies, any sort of secret.

As you ponder this news, please keep in mind that we already know where the Trump regime wants to deploy these soldiers, because they're already openly targeting almost entirely Democrat-run cities for their mass deportation Gestapo raids. The Swine Emperor doesn't need soldiers to keep the people who *agree* with his project to transform America into a fascist dictatorship in line, he wants an army to crush the parts of the country that are unlikely to obey his illegal orders, and are resisting that transformation into a fascist dictatorship. What Hegseth's little brother is talking about here, is summoning armies to invade Democrat-run cities - which stands to reason, given that I've been writing about how obvious that plan is for over six weeks now. This is literally what the Trump regime needs to install and enforce a perpetual state of militarized martial law in America, and they're just passing notes about how to get that done around the top levels of the Trumprenreich now.

Finally, I would encourage you not to sleep on the way the Hegseth memo further institutionalizes the regime's idea that America is being "invaded" and is at war with "narco terrorists" - going so far as to compare transnational criminal organizations to fucking Al Qaeda. As we've discussed before, this conflation is purely intentional because without it, the nazis would lack the justification for deploying US military forces domestically, and their propaganda argument that because all of this fascist bullshit is fighting a "terrorist invasion," opposition to it represents supporting terrorists and or insurrection against the federal government, falls apart entirely.

Add it all up and you've got a plan to deploy the US military, to fight a fake war that justifies repressing Trump's political enemies; a war that we've already seen, goes far beyond the horrifying parameters of a white nationalist ethnic cleansing project being conducted in the open as you read this. You want to know how Trump creates the Fourth Reich? Well, the Hegseth brothers' plan sure looks like a vehicle for that outcome to me.

I wrote a little bit about why I don't like the way Gestapo leaders are talking about Democrat-controlled sanctuary cities in the wake of the random shooting of an off-duty Gestapo goon in New York during a botched robbery that had nothing to do with immigration enforcement. The playbook being run here smells a lot like the Invasion of LA to me.

Nina-Bytes: A License to Occupy

"What’s important here is that Tom Homan, who has never won an election in New York and has no authority over its public safety policies whatsoever, is asserting an executive branch right that does not exist, to take over policing in the city because of a lack of cooperation from local authorities. And by “cooperation”, the Border Czar means letting him use local police and government agencies to conduct the regime’s fascist mass deportation raids. This argument actually has nothing to do with the shooting at all, Homan is just dressing his pre-existing intentions up in a bloody shirt and rhetoric about securing public safety because one of his boys caught a stray in a random criminal incident that could have happened anywhere in America, but happened to occur in New York."

I'd like to take a moment to talk about a regional PNW news story about resistance to the Gestapo, because I think Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem's response to it is at once very typical of the regime's fascist propaganda style, and also crude enough to perhaps expose the direction the fascist shitshow that is Trump 2.0 is heading. After semi-anonymous groups of heroic citizens worked to publicly identify masked ICE Gestapo agents openly violating the civil rights of Oregonians, noted puppy murderer Noem promised swift prosecution of “anarchist and Antifa-affiliated groups” who acquire or share "personal information" of federal law enforcement officials who work for the government.

oregonlive.com/crime/2025/07/i (archived: archive.ph/0cm2B)

ICE officers doxxed by antifa, anarchists in Portland, Noem says

"Noem, in a statement and photos, identified Rose City Antifa, “Rose City Counter-Info,” and “The Crustian Daily,” as groups that have published names, photos and personal addresses of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers on their websites or put up fliers in the officers’ neighborhoods. In one case, trash was dumped on the front lawn of an officer’s property, but the location was not disclosed.

“We will prosecute those who dox ICE agents to the fullest extent of the law. These criminals are taking the side of vicious cartels and human traffickers,” Noem said in the statement. “We won’t allow it in America.”

So, before we get into what I think Noem's belligerence has exposed about how the Trump regime intends to market the transformation of the United States into a white ethnostate executive branch dictatorship with theocratic characteristics, I just want to clear up an point of order here. ICE agents are public law enforcement officials, who are issued numbered badges, and work for the government; it is categorically impossible to dox someone who shouldn't be allowed to run through American cities wearing neck gaiters pulled up over their faces like a CIA-trained Latin American death squad. So, right off the bat we've got the DHS Secretary arguing that people who haven't broken a law are guilty because they exposed people, Gestapo pigs, who actually are breaking the law, or at least openly violating the civil and constitutional rights of both migrants and American citizens alike.

Don't sleep on Gestapo Barbie's attempts to revive the "Antifa and anarchist scare" that characterized the first Trump administration's justification for using federal agents to conduct blatantly illegal operations in cities they consider politically hostile either. Trump and the pigs loyal to him have spent a very long time trying to get you to associate "Portland" with "lawless anarchist violence" and "Antifa terrorism" and I don't think it's any sort of accident that she's invoking that trope again now.

What I think is most revealing here however is that Noem couldn't resist tying all of this back to the regime's threats against "sanctuary cities" - which as the article notes, has also been a key talking point being put forward by Trump's Border Czar, Tom Homan recently. This context, which Noem wasn't required to provide, paints a giant target on Portland, for the type of militarized invasion and occupation we've been watching for weeks in Los Angeles.

Now, you gentle reader might think it would be ridiculous to pretend an American city had been taken over by "Antifa terrorists" in league with Democrat officials, and therefore needed to be brought to heel by militarized federal forces, and nobody could blame you for that - the problem is, the first Trump administration made precisely that argument already, repeatedly in 2020, and started using Federal Marshals to black bag protestors and suspected antifascists right off the streets of Portland. The only thing that stopped Downmarket Mussolini from fully invading a bunch of Democrat-controlled cities back then was a lack of military buy-in, and I think the ongoing invasion and occupation of LA demonstrates that won't be a problem with Pete Hegseth running the Department of Defense and a 6-3 fascist high Supreme Court.

This very short write up about a federal Gestapo raid on a home in Huntington Park California is almost two weeks old now, but I didn't want to let it slip through the cracks because I believe it manifestly exposes how the overtly fascist police state I've talked about the Trumpenreich creating, actually functions in practice. In one incident from the larger Invasion of LA saga unfolding right now, we've got militarized policing in American neighborhoods, a legally-dubious home invasion by ideologically motivated state security forces, the application of federally-controlled Gestapo goons to engage in domestic policing activities unrelated to immigration, and an ethnonationalist security force apparatus seeking revenge for potentially made up crimes against our slow motion ethnic cleansing project. Given the shocking footage involved, it's entirely possible you heard about this incident; but near as I can tell, there aren't many people in the mainstream discourse prepared to talk about what it all means, so let's give that a try a here.

theguardian.com/us-news/2025/j

Federal agents blast way into California home of woman and small children

"The agents told Ramirez that they were searching for her boyfriend, but did not tell her why, according to NBC. Ramirez told the news station that he was involved in a vehicle collision with a truck carrying federal agents last week. She said it was an accident and unintentional.

A spokesperson for Customs and Border Protection told NBC: “Jorge Sierra-Hernandez was arrested because he rammed his car into a CBP vehicle, causing significant damage and obstructed the work of our agents and officers during the course of a law enforcement operation.”

The spokesperson said agents were “assaulted” during this incident and “additional rioters threw rocks and other objects at our personnel.”

The first thing I want to talk about here is the video included in this article, which I encourage you to actually watch if you haven't already (you can find it here: youtube.com/watch?v=rJarE4ULUg ). Yes, you just saw twelve, poorly-identified, armed to the teeth federal agents set up outside a woman's home before using an explosive device to blow open her door, and file in to the home assault rifles ready, like we're doing house to house insurgent searches in fucking Fallujah. It is unclear exactly which agencies were involved in this outrageous militarized raid but based on the government's news releases we can surmise that at least some of these goons were Border Patrol.

Why does that matter? Well, the woman inside the home, Jenny Ramirez, is an American citizen. Her two young children who were home with their mom when the feds blew the front door open? Also American citizens. So why the fuck is CBP in an LA satellite city, with a 97% Latino population, acting like the Marine Corps tossing houses in occupied territory? If your answer was "because this is an ethnonationalist government conducting a slow motion ethnic cleansing operation in what *they* consider occupied territory" you can probably skip the rest of my write up.

Naturally however, the immigration pigs couldn't just admit they're purposely terrorizing brown people and flexing their power to kick in anyone's door for any reason they feel like. Officially, CBP said they were there to apprehend the woman's boyfriend, Jorge Sierra-Hernandez, who they accused of *ramming* a CBP vehicle and "obstructing" a Gestapo raid of some kind. Actions which they are trying to tie to community protest against, again, racially-motivated Gestapo kidnapping raids in and around Los Angeles. Oh, in case you were wondering, Sierra-Hernandez is also an American citizen.

Would it surprise you to learn Ramirez says it was just a car accident? Who should we trust here? Please keep in mind that this is a fascist Department of Homeland Security we've watched repeatedly accuse peaceful protestors and even Democrat government officials of "assault" and "obstruction" even though the events were recorded on video and certainly don't match the Gestapo's description of reality. Hell, judging by the scare quotes around "assaulted" I don't even think the normally pro-pig Guardian believes the government.

The real question however is why is Customs and Border Patrol plus other immigration agents tooling around a 97% Latino city armed like they're walking into the Tet Offensive, deploying explosives and drones to force their way into a family's home like they're tossing a cartel hideout over... a traffic accident? Given that Sierra-Hernandez surrendered later that afternoon and is already out on bail, the police couldn't have handled that? Kind feels like the Gestapo wanted to scare some brown people and get revenge on a guy who rear-ended their car.

Folks, these people weren't even migrants. This is exactly the fascist future Trump, Bondi, and these white nationalist goons want for us all.

Although the world has moved on to more exiting news, the reality is that the Trump regime is still occupying the city of Los Angeles, and while the soldiers the regime sent to do so are not involved in widespread civil rights abuses right now, they are acting to effectively intimidate opposition to both federal Gestapo forces and local police departments who most certainly *are* engaging in widespread civil rights abuses. If you have read anything I've written about the fascist Invasion of LA, you know that I believe the architect of this entire shitshow is Trump's unofficial nazi viceroy, Stephen Miller, and as such the vast majority of the blame for this terrible situation resides with him and the larger Trumpenreich. The "vast majority" however, is not "all of the blame" and as I've written many times, in many contexts, one of the major reasons the Swine Emperor's plot to transform America into an outright fascist dictatorship has been so successful to this point, is that as president he inherited a pre-existing American police state already molded by authoritarianism, US white supremacy, and the embrace of fascist ideology.

It may not be popular to point out now, but the reality is Trump's deployment of a combined military and militarized law enforcement brute squad to crush protests is not a novel invention, even in a modern, deeply "blue" California. As the author of this piece notes from personal experience, a mere five years ago Gavin Newsom himself send 8,000 National Guardsmen into California communities, primarily in and around Los Angeles, to horrifically suppress the 2020 protests against racialized police violence in the wake of the murder of George Floyd. Furthermore, the pro-murderpig, pro-government media coverage of the protests in LA Trump claims are his casus belle for invading an American city, also mirrors the coverage of those 2020 protests nationwide, not just in Los Angeles.

truthout.org/articles/years-of

Years of LAPD Impunity Paved Way for Trump’s Repression of Protests Today

"In the years since, the city has paid out nearly $12 million in legal settlements and jury awards stemming from well-documented LAPD abuses at that summer’s protests. An independent report commissioned by the Los Angeles City Council, released in 2021, found that the LAPD had acted chaotically and belligerently — illegally detaining protesters, deploying force on innocent people, and escalating confrontations with nonviolent protesters.

Five years later, the LAPD’s multibillion-dollar budget has only grown, even as the department overspends on police liability payouts. This context is crucial for understanding the events that erupted in Los Angeles last week amid a wave of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids. In response to the Trump administration’s violent deportation regime, a coalition of community members, of all ages and backgrounds, have gathered in solidarity with their undocumented neighbors. Most of the demonstrations have been concentrated in just a few blocks downtown, a tiny portion of the sprawling city. “Moms, kids, families, it was truly beautiful to see,” said one friend who attended a protest on June 8. “Even when it got violent from the cops — I got hit with a flashbang that cut my arm — there were volunteer field medics and teens handing out water bottles.”

This reality on the ground is a far cry from the picture painted by President Donald Trump and mainstream media, who have attempted to equate scattered scenes of property destruction with widespread, state-inflicted violence against human beings. I remember this same gulf during the 2020 protests, between lived experience and media spectacle. And time and time again, what a large body of research has shown is that the presence of militarized police and the National Guard at protests is often the real instigator of violence, not its pacifier."

Look, I'm not psychic and I can't speak to the author's intentions with this piece; liberals are probably going to see this as a gotcha targeting Gavin Newsom, remember how much I hate Newsom personally, and assume the worst. The reality however is that this problem is a lot bigger than Gavin Newsom, Los Angeles, or my disdain for the neoliberal, cop-humper wing of the Democratic Party. We are effectively in the early stages of a very kinetic version of the American culture war, and you don't win wars without understanding the nature of the conflict. Folks who are actively opposing the fascist regime have to understand that when we take to the streets, it's not going to be "red versus blue" at a law enforcement level and we cannot rely on support from opposition political leaders who built and immunized the police state for precisely the same purpose Trump is using it for now; crushing opposition and suppressing constitutionally-protected protest against the machine.

As if Hegseth's plan for a portable military dictatorship wasn't bad enough, reports indicate the Pentagon is seriously considering a May DHS plan to effectively recruit 20,000 National Guardsmen into the Gestapo; an action that would give Trump, a fascist clearly trying to install a dictatorship, an effective standing army controlled entirely by the executive branch. In case you're wondering, that's not good for anyone who isn't a fascist.

Nina-Bytes: The Pork Reich Eyes an Army

"We can’t forget that a fascist police state for targeting migrants, is a fascist police state for targeting anyone else too. We’ve already seen what the Trumpenreich can accomplish with a ready-bake army of under five thousand troops in terms of taking over a Democrat-run city against the wishes of state and municipal representatives, so what could Trump accomplish with over twenty thousand National Guardsmen under his command and at the ready? For starters the training and military hardware National Guard troops have access to would put Hitler’s brownshirts to shame. Barring widespread kinetic resistance, I’d wager that twenty thousand or so National Guardsman is more or less enough troops to occupy all the parts of the country that didn’t vote for Trump and wouldn’t obey his (often illegal or unconstitutional) edicts otherwise. Furthermore, once Trump obtained a standing army from fascist Republican Governors, there would be absolutely no one capable of stopping him from expanding it."

One of the problems with doing antifascist analysis while the Trumpenreich appears to be going for the full Pinochet experience, is that whenever you're right about what these nazis are trying to do, it's no reason to celebrate. I wrote a bit about Pete Hegseth's recent testimony during a Congressional hearing and why what he described there means we might already be looking at the Klepto Kaiser's dictatorship in real time.

ninaillingworth.com/2025/06/13

Nina-Bytes: A Portable Pork Reich Dictatorship

"To completely understand what Trump’s crusader Secretary of Defense is getting at here, you have to place it in the larger context of the regime’s fascist mass deportation project, and the conditions which administration officials, including President Trump himself have outlined to “justify” escalation and additional military involvement. Crucially, this includes accounting for the Trump regime’s ability to coordinate multiple security forces, including the ICE Gestapo, the Kash Patel-run FBI, and ideologically sympathetic local law enforcement agencies. With Hegseth’s proposal in place, and a little cooperation among Trump-loyal actors, the regime can both cause the inciting incidents that allow them to summon the Army to a given location, and then use those military forces to essentially enforce Trump’s (often illegal) policies even over the objections of local elected officials."

Sticking with the Trumpenreich invasion of LA for just one more moment, I'd like to take a look at the intentional fascist intimidation tactics employed by Department of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, or at least her security team, against the US Senator from California, Alex Padilla. This event received extensive coverage in the mainstream media, but I believe it's important to take note of here for two reasons; one which was discussed in liberal media circles, and one that got far less coverage because our establishment is instinctively allergic to calling US cabinet officials "liars" even when everyone knows they're lying.

Let's get into the weeds:

truthout.org/articles/senator-

Sen. Alex Padilla Tackled to the Ground, Handcuffed at Noem Press Conference

"Video of the incident that circulated on social media showed Padilla attempting to ask Noem a question when multiple men began grabbing and shoving him.

“I’m Senator Alex Padilla. I have questions for the secretary,” Padilla says, struggling to speak as he’s manhandled. He seemingly begins to make a comment about the “rotating” set of people supposedly convicted of crimes that the Trump administration is parading around in attempts to justify their brutal, sweeping anti-immigrant campaign.

As he’s speaking, the officers forcibly remove him from the room, with Padilla yelling “hands off.” Grabbing his arms, chest, and clothes, they shove the senator into a hallway, where they force him to the ground and handcuff him."

First of all, this is outrageous, intentional, fascist political intimidation and Senator Warren is absolutely right when she says the DHS Secretary should resign. Not that Noem will, because Trump purposely stacked his regime full of nazis who don't know the meaning of the word shame this time, and Kristi really fits that description; after all, this *is* a woman who bragged about murdering a puppy because she thought it would help her political career. The fact is however there are only 100 United States Senators, and while Capital Hill may be a city within a city, it's not a particularly large city. Every single person in that room, including Noem, her security detail, and the press corps, knew who Alex Padilla was the entire time. Furthermore, while Noam might have a TV star's face thanks to her surgeon, she's a very poor actor, and watching her during this widely-recorded moment makes it clear she's fully aware of what's going on the whole time. The assault, and it was an assault, by Noem's security detail on a Democrat sitting US Senator representing the community the Trumpenreich is currently invading, was completely intentional; Noem, and through her Trump, meant to send a message.

As the article goes on to detail, this fascist bullshit is firmly part of a larger Swine Emperor and GOP quest to criminalize their political opposition, specifically the Democratic Party. This is occurring not only in rhetoric, but in deed. The regime is investigating Act Blue, a Dem-aligned fundraising org, they've arrested both a Democrat Mayor, and a Democrat Congresswoman for attempting to conduct oversight on an ICE facility, federal agents burst into NY Democrat Jerry Nadler's office, cuffed an employee, and accused his staff of harboring "criminals." They're working hard to get Americans used to seeing Democrat officials aligned against Trump, in handcuffs on the six o'clock news, and I suspect that's not an accident.

All of which then brings us to Kristi Noem's bald-face lie, that Senator Padilla "burst into the room," "lunged at her,' and "did not identify himself." Let's roll the tape:

theguardian.com/us-news/live/2

CBS video of Padilla interrupting Noem with a question appears to undermine her claim that he lunged at her

"Just three seconds into the incident, Padilla could be seen standing, with his left hand raised slightly in a rhetorical gesture, trying to continue with his question, as a security officer placed his hands on the senator’s chest and back and began pushing him away from the front of the room.

There is no visual evidence in the clip to suggest that Padilla was moving in Noem’s direction when he started speaking, or was ever within 10-15ft (3-3.5 metres) of her."

So, actually Padilla was already in the room, he never got within 12 feet of Noem and certainly didn't lunge, and he clearly identified himself in a room he didn't have to. I'm sorry for the Zapruder film treatment here, but I want to establish that Kristi Noem is unquestionably, and intentionally lying about something she knows is being recorded live, because that's the most important thing about this incident.

Noem knows she's lying, she knows you know she's lying, and she knows the camera knows she's lying, but in true fascist fashion she's claiming the power to force you to accept that lie as valid; and a media pretending she could just be stupid and mistaken, would make Orwell weep.

Keeping with collecting facts to remember about the ongoing invasion of LA in a discourse actively trying to reimagine these events in real time, I'd like to talk about this June 10th article on Huffpost because I think it highlights three important points I've been writing about on this blog. First, state security forces, particularly federal Trumpenreich immigration forces are the ones committing violence and sewing disorder, not protestors. Second, the "nonlethal" weapons being deployed on nonviolent protestors in LA are still extremely dangerous, and represent an unacceptable application of force against people exercising their constitutionally-protected rights. And third, the class sympathies of corporate media organizations are so powerfully encoded that they supersede even basic self-preservation.

huffpost.com/entry/journalists

Dozens Of Journalists Targeted, Shot, Detained While Covering LA Protests, Press Org Says

"Shocking video and photos taken amid the ongoing immigration protests in Los Angeles show journalists and news crews being shot, detained and forced off public property by law enforcement, raising concerns of excessive force and First Amendment rights violations.

There have been more than 30 incidents of police violence against journalists as of Tuesday, including 20 injuries, at least five of which required emergency room or urgent care visits, said Adam Rose, the press rights chair with the Los Angeles Press Club, which released a statement Monday urging an end to the targeting of journalists whose work is constitutionally protected."

Keep in mind that this story was published on June 10th, and it is now June 13th; I've watched enough livestreams from LA to guarantee you the more than 30 incidents of police violence against journalists catalogued by the LA Press Club is now a drastic undercount as we roll through day 7 of the fascist Trumpenreich invasion of LA. Furthermore, while everyone has seen the clip of the Australian 9 News reporter being purposely shot in the back of the leg by a murderpig, incidents of deliberate calculated violence against journalists by various state security forces are by no means isolated, and have resulted in far more serious injuries than Tomasi got in that clip. These violent assaults on journalists by federal immigration officers and local police forces are *not* accidental; check out this quote from the LA Press Club's letter to DHS Secretary Kristi Noem:

“In some cases, federal officers appear to have deliberately targeted journalists who were doing nothing more than their job covering the news,” a letter addressed to Noem by the organizations states."

Do you have any idea how sure a mainstream press body has to be before they accuse cops of purposely targeting journalists? Security forces, particularly Trump's federal Gestapo, have been intentionally attacking journalists to prevent them from covering their widespread civil rights abuses and fascist piggery towards migrants and protestors; full stop. Is this violence? Is this disorder? Cause if it is, I think it's safe to say the pigs are the one bringing those elements to the streets of LA.

Which brings us to nonlethal rounds, and the intentional application of excessive force against journalists, by security forces. Take this story from a veteran reporter shot through the leg with a "nonlethal" round by a cop aiming an area effect weapon directly at his midsection.

"Graphic photos shared with HuffPost show a gaping wound in Nick Stern’s right thigh that he said has left him unable to walk or move without assistance.

“Why this device was shot at human, kind of, waist high level, I do not know. The people around me at that time was doing nothing more than waving Mexican flags,” he told HuffPost."

Stern's story is by no means an outlier, and the article provides evidence of more injured journalists like him. All of which might make you ask how media muppets can continue to blame violence on protestors and hump murderpigs on live TV while their compatriots are being wounded in the streets by deliberate pig assaults? The answer is cold hard cash, and the class sympathies of people who own and run media corporations. These folks are so committed to the police state that protects their material interests, that the media they control will jump through absurd hoops to conflate victim with victimizer; a few days ago I watched a CNN reporter claim protestors were throwing exploding foam objects at the press while holding up a nonlethal munition that I know came from the cops because they're the only ones who had those types of weapons at the protest.

My friends, you're damn right there is violence and disorder on (some of) the streets of LA; and if all the murderpigs and soldiers committing that violence and causing that disorder would like to fuck off now, I'm sure Angelinos can handle the rest from here.

After Ferguson, the nationwide George Floyd protests, and now the invasion of LA, I've basically come to the conclusion that it is structurally impossible for corporate US media to properly describe and analyze any sufficiently disruptive protest movement, particularly if that movement centers the rights of nonwhite people in any meaningful way. Obviously the narratives that LA protests are a foreign "invasion," an "insurrection," or a threat to the government of the United States find their origins in fascist propagandists on the American right, but these narratives are then buttressed by a "centrist" media, particularly on television, desperate to sell the drama of an equivalent two-sided conflict between angry brown people and armored police state thugs of various kinds; even as that "centrist" media decries the fascist conspiracy theories their focus on transmitting a "both-sides" narrative works to enforce. You cannot thread the needle in a struggle between an ethnonationalist police state engaging in open fascist repression, and the response of labor class Angelinos to that fascist repression; even trying to do so does nothing but serve white supremacy and the violent security forces that brutally maintain it in America.

I say all this because as our public discourse is purposely shifted towards a conversation about whether or not the Trump regime was justified in activating the army to suppress protests in LA, with most people who aren't literal fucking nazis agreeing that he was not, we've lost track of the conversation about whether or not the LA protests were themselves justified in the first place. Spoiler, they were. But by starting the conversation with Trump's fascist mobilization of military forces, a subtext that the LA protests themselves were the problem emerges, even if that is not actually the intention of the media organizations presenting that narrative. The reality that the invasion of LA started with fascist ICE workplace raids on Friday, and the feds absolutely deployed flashbangs and fired "nonlethal" ammo at the nonviolent (but not peaceful; why would they be peaceful?) protestors first, fades into the background of a debate about separation of powers and executive branch rights, when it is far and away the most important part of the story of the Trumpenreich invasion of LA.

Well, whatever the opinion makers and narrative writers want to do with the story of the invasion of LA is beyond my power to control, but I'm not just rolling over for this bullshit. I stayed up way too late last night cleaning up two stories about what I think are the outrageously fascist activities of the Gestapo in LA on Friday, that rightfully pissed Angelinos off enough to take to the streets and vigorously, but nonviolently protest; specifically the militarized nazi workplace raids on Friday, and the assault, arrest, and smearing of SEIU president David Huerta. I believe that once you understand why Angelinos were protesting in the first place, everything that happened afterwards, including the ongoing military occupation of an extremely small part of downtown LA, cannot be blamed on the protestors; the fault clearly lies with a fascist Trump regime who planned this exact scenario out in advance, and local California officials who not only did nothing to protect their citizens from militarized Gestapo mass kidnappings in broad daylight, but now seem determined to prove their own security forces can violate the rights of Angelinos just as well as US soldiers can, so Trump's assistance is not needed.

I don't have the time, energy, or platform to shout down a craven, or complicit (depends on the target audience) corporate media complex, but I'll be damned if I'm going to pretend Angelinos opposing fascism are responsible for whatever violence you're seeing on your TV screen. Consider this my very small contribution to the cause of resisting the manufacture of consent for fascist, often racialized, state repression.

In this thread I've written a lot about the importance of keeping track of what the regime says surrounding the fascist shitshow that is the Trumpenreich invasion of LA. Speaking frankly, I think everyone living in a capitalist police state should keep close track of what their "leaders" say at all times, but in this case it's important because the Trump regime uses propaganda to create space for action. In talking about and justifying their fascist activities, including the invasion of LA, regime officials frequently reveal a great deal about their methods of operation and future intentions.

To go deeper into what I mean by this sort of tea leaf reading and how it pertains to the Trump regime's statements about Los Angeles, let's take a look at this June 10th Guardian article discussing a very similar issue with some help from NYU history professor Ruth Ben-Ghiat:

theguardian.com/us-news/2025/j

‘The language of authoritarianism’: how Trump and allies cast LA as a lawless city needing military intervention

"As a pretext to this action, the Trump administration had characterized the protests as a broader threat to the nation. On X, White House deputy chief of staff, Stephen Miller, called LA “occupied territory”. “We’ve been saying for years this is a fight to save civilization. Anyone with eyes can see that now.”

Trump posted on Truth Social: “A once great American City, Los Angeles, has been invaded and occupied by Illegal Aliens and Criminals. Now violent, insurrectionist mobs are swarming and attacking our Federal Agents to try and stop our deportation operations – But these lawless riots only strengthen our resolve.”

FBI director, Kash Patel, wrote on X that LA was “under siege by marauding criminals”.

If I'm being honest, this entire article is basically one huge "They Said It" post, so you'll forgive me for centering Trumpenreich official's comments over Ben-Ghiat's analysis. If you read on however, she confirms that the regime's language is designed to create an 'existential sense of fear," paint LA as a warzone, and justify putting soldiers in the streets to enforce Trump's fascist rule. Ben-Ghiat also points to a statement made by Trump's crusader fascist Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, for a perfect encapsulation of how this narrative building then translates to implied justification for very specific authoritarian regime actions.

"The violent mob assaults on ICE and Federal Law Enforcement are designed to prevent the removal of Criminal Illegal Aliens from our soil,” Hegseth wrote. “A dangerous invasion facilitated by criminal cartels (aka Foreign Terrorist Organizations) and a huge NATIONAL SECURITY RISK.”

Ben-Ghiat said Hegseth employed “the classic authoritarian thing, of setting up an excuse, which is that the internal enemy, illegal criminal aliens, is working together with an external enemy, the cartels and foreign terrorists, and using that to go after a third party, of protesters, regular people, who came out to show solidarity”.

All of which brings us to the same, familiar, gnawing question that defines so much of the second Trump era; are these guys fucking serious? As I mentioned elsewhere, the fact is a fascist regime really only gets one shot at going for the full Third Reich dictatorship experience; if Trump and his minions go for it, but fail, everyone who doesn't have SCOTUS-granted immunity from prosecution is probably fucked. Is Downmarket Mussolini willing to risk the tremendous power and privilege he has now to make himself the true master of all he surveys? I'm not sure anyone, even Trump's unofficial minister of nazi shit Stephen Miller, actually knows the answer to that question.

What I can tell you however, is what I told you earlier on this blog today; at some point the idea that Trump is just accidentally falling into all the steps he'd need to take to install a permanent fascist dictatorship in America, ceases to hold water. This guy is either the world's luckiest accidental authoritarian, or the Trump regime is planning to go the full nine yards and what we're talking about now is a question of courage, not will. Take a look at what this article quotes Miller as saying, and then tell me you're sure I'm wrong.

“Simply put, the government of the State of California aided, abetted and conspired to facilitate the invasion of the United States,” Stephen Miller wrote on X."

Folks, it's hard to say that the Trump regime is "preparing for war," when they've clearly already started one. But almost everything the regime does and says, especially in regards to the Los Angeles protests, strongly implies we haven't remotely hit rock bottom here. Trump is running out of shiny things to distract the public with and it's increasingly becoming clear the Trumpenreich is building a dictatorship brick by brick; you don't do that because you want to admire the shine on your Gestapo's riot helmets.

Today in deeply not at all fun Trump facts; did you know the Swine Emperor has currently deployed more troops to LA than the US military officially maintains in Syria and Iraq, combined? No, seriously:

truthout.org/articles/trump-ha

Trump Has Deployed More Troops in LA Than Syria and Iraq, Per US Counts

"President Donald Trump’s latest deployment of thousands of National Guard troops and Marines to Los Angeles means that there are now more troops carrying out Trump’s anti-protest crackdown in southern California than in both Iraq and Syria, regions where the U.S. has executed some of its most intense and inhumane military campaigns in recent decades, according to official counts.

Trump has dispatched roughly 4,000 National Guard members and 700 Marines to respond to L.A.’s protests of his immigration raids, for a total of roughly 4,700 troops. Meanwhile, according to publicly reported Pentagon figures, the U.S. has roughly 2,000 troops deployed in Syria and 2,500 troops in Iraq, for a total of 4,500."

As the article goes on to note, a Pentagon still operating under War on Terror logic while occupying Iraq and purportedly fighting terrorism in Syria, may well be undercounting the troop levels in those two countries; they've certainly done so in the past.

Regardless, if we consider the *official* deployment of military personnel to be a de facto statement of the regime's policing priorities, that still means the Trumpenreich is arguing that unarmed domestic protesters inside very small pockets of the Los Angeles area are a greater threat than militarized terrorist militias in two countries US intervention has helped transform into semi-perpetual warzones. Please keep in mind that the LA protests are happening on livestream, and there are hundreds of eye witness accounts in the public discourse from Angelinos saying there is no widespread disorder for the troops to quell. There is not a man, woman, nor child in America who can't verify for themselves that Trump is lying about a “rebellion against the authority of the Government of the United States” going on in Los Angeles, if they want to.

All of which of course leads us directly back to our ongoing discussion about what the Trumpenreich is trying to use its militarized invasion of LA to sanctify in practice, if not in US Law. Trump wants the power to permanently occupy US cities, while engaging the military in both domestic policing and assisting the Gestapo in the regime's ethnonationalist mass deportation project; including apparently providing detention facilities for caged migrants. Furthermore, as Zhang ominously notes, there are clear signs the regime is exploring how to scale up what they're doing in LA, to a much more national project.

"According to a report by ABC News, the Pentagon is considering a plan crafted by the Department of Homeland Security to deploy more than 20,000 additional National Guard troops to aid with Trump’s immigration raids.

This would cost $3.6 billion over the course of a year, and would represent roughly half of the number of troops deployed across the entirety of the Middle East. It would also be an escalation of the Trump administration’s use of the U.S.’s colossal military capacity to attack and subdue the American public."

Folks, I'm just going to be real with you; you don't martial up 20,000+ troops from all across the country in advance because ICE is going to raid a bunch of cities one by one to hunt down brown people Stephen Miller's shriveled conscience cannot abide existing in his county. We're definitely going to talk more about the ABC report the author mentions at a later point in time, but what you're looking at here is the opening steps the regime would need to take if they intended to militarily occupy the parts of the United States that didn't vote for Trump without meeting organized, violent resistance.

Like a lot of the fascist bullshit the Klepto Kaiser is doing right now, it's hard to tell if he's going to go "all the way." At some point however, the idea that Donald Trump is just accidentally stumbling in to all the steps he would need to enshrine a militarized fascist dictatorship under a perpetual state of quasi-martial law, strains credulity. If Trump gets away with transforming protests into an insurrection and soldiers into policemen in LA, you should bet on the idea that the nazis will soon be coming for a town near you in that very same way.

I wrote a little bit about my experiences analyzing the Trumpenreich Invasion of LA and the importance of maintaining an accurate timeline of what started all this fascist bullshit, even in the face of propaganda designed to invert victim with victimizer and demonize the protestors.

Journal: When the Angels Scream

"Stephen Miller can call it an “insurrection,” and corporate American media can claim there was “violence on both sides” until they’re all blue in the face, but they can’t stop reality from being real. A protest is not a riot. Vandalism is not violence. And if blocking traffic to stop militarized Gestapo thugs from kidnapping your neighbors and carting them away to be caged like animals is a crime, it is certainly a far less grave offense to our society than the act of militarily invading a sanctuary city to conduct ethno-nationalist migrant round-ups."

In a recent Journal published on NIDC, I argued Trump's fascist invasion of LA would become the defining story of his second presidential term. Part of what I meant by that is that the Trumpenreich invasion of LA would come to influence and affect almost every story out of the Klepto Kaiser's regime, subtly or not so subtly changing the meaning and gravity of everything Trump and his cronies do or say, going forward.

A good example of what that looks like in action, can be found in the president's recent terrifying comments about meeting anyone who dared to protest his fascist birthday boy military parade with "very heavy force." While this statement and Trump's subsequent attempts to avoid clarification are getting some play in the news, veteran human rights observers are rightfully pointing out that the president did not use the word "violent" and thus just threatened to attack people with his police state for simply protesting this ostentatious fascist shitshow.

commondreams.org/news/trump-he

Amnesty Condemns Trump Threat of 'Very Heavy Force' Against Military Parade Protesters

"In Tuesday remarks to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump said he didn't know of any planned protests timed to coincide with his $134-million parade, taking place on his birthday, but said if there are, "these are people that hate our country."

"For those people who want to protest, they're going to be met with very big force," Trump said, making no distinction between peaceful demonstrators and those who might be more confrontational or even violent.

"Now is a good moment to remind President Trump that protesting is a human right and that his administration is obligated to respect, protect, and fulfill the human rights to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly–not suppress them," said Paul O'Brien, executive director of Amnesty International USA, in a statement on Wednesday."

Alright, let's deal with the elephant in the room right away; no, I do not actually think Trump intends to shoot what will almost certainly be well-behaved liberals attending organized "No Kings" protests. I do however believe that Trump's use of the naked word "protestors" was entirely intentional, and he is purposely trying to intimidate his political enemies by suggesting he might shoot suburban white liberal families waving pre-printed signs about Trump not being our king, and thus exercising their constitutionally protected rights to nonviolently protest the US government. Trump absolutely wants people who vote Democrat and think he's an assclown to be afraid they might get shot for protesting, and he's relying on the ambiguity of whether or not he just forgot to say "violent" to convey that message without any real consequences for the regime.

In my opinion however, this crass attempt at political intimidation is not the primary purpose for Trump's wholly intentional "misstep" here, and that's where we get back to the invasion of LA shaping almost every Trumpenreich story going forward. The entire Pork Reich has just spent the past six days conflating protests with riots, vandalism with violence, and resistance to fascist ICE raids with an actual insurrection against the US government. They've portrayed protestors in LA as a foreign invasion, spread conspiracy theories about the people in the streets being paid agitators enacting a plot to overthrow Trump, and pretended all of Los Angeles is an apocalyptic warzone that justifies potentially lethal military responses. Trump knows the regime has put in the work to convince a significant portion of the US public that "protestor" means "violent insurrectionist" and or "a terrorist who wants to destroy America" and he made sure to tie that implication into what he said. In other words, the protests on June 14th won't have to actually be violent to justify whatever the regime intends to do next, the mere act of protesting will be understood by much of America to be an attack on Trump and the US military that warrants some type of maximalist state response.

So, what is that response likely to be? Well I'm not in the rampant speculation business, but as I noted above, I don't really see what shooting a bunch of sign-waving milquetoast soccer moms and grill dads actually gets the regime here. If however Trump and his fascist lackeys were able to *pretend* the No Kings, anti-birthday military parade protests were the beginnings of a national uprising against the US state, that could be used to justify invoking the Insurrection Act, instituting martial law across much of America, and deploying military forces to anti-Trump "hotspots" all over the country. Is that the plan here? I'm sure on some level the regime has discussed it, and they're clearly propagandizing like they want to give it a go at some point. Whether or not recent setbacks will give the Trumpenreich cold feed by Saturday however, remains an open question.

They Said It (June 8th, 2025)

"Homeland security secretary Kristi Noem has said the protests in Los Angeles are “absolutely” organized by people being paid to instigate violence, without providing any evidence.

Asked by Sean Hannity on Fox News about pallets of bricks that he claimed had mysteriously appeared at the protests and whether she had found evidence of organisation and funding, Noem said:

"Absolutely. These are organized. These are people that are being paid to do this. You can follow how they behave, the signals they give to each other in these crowds and these protests to instigate violence. This is an operation, and it’s professionally done. They’ve done it before, and we’re going to stop it and make sure that we prosecute every single one of them."

She also called Karen Bass a “trainwreck of a mayor” and said Los Angeles was not “a city of immigrants they’re a city of criminals.”

In previous analysis, I wrote about my belief that the Trumpenreich's invasion of LA had established a repeatable legal, logistical, and political framework for transforming the National Guard and indeed the US military into the enforcement arm of a permanent fascist police state under at least the constant threat of martial law. Well, it turns out that I could have just waited a couple of days for the regime to say the quiet part out loud, because Pete Hegseth all but admitted that's precisely how this is going down in real time, during a Congressional oversight hearing on Capitol Hill.

commondreams.org/news/hegseth-

Hegseth Lays Out a Case for Troop Deployments in 'Any Jurisdiction in the Country'

"U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth told members of Congress on Tuesday that he believes Immigration and Customs Enforcement "has the right to safely conduct operations in any state and any jurisdiction in the country."

Given that Hegseth and President Donald Trump have cast the National Guard and U.S. Marine deployments to Los Angeles as an effort to protect ICE personnel as they carry out the administration's mass deportation campaign, the Pentagon chief's testimony to lawmakers represented a justification for troop mobilizations to any part of the nation where protests against ICE are deemed a potential threat."

To completely understand what Trump's crusader Secretary of Defense is getting at here, you have to place it in the larger context of the regime's fascist mass deportation project, and the conditions which administration officials, including President Trump himself have outlined to "justify" escalation and additional military involvement. The rough process by which the regime is now actively conducting a fascist takeover of the broader American state at every level of government, looks a bit like this:

A) Send ICE Gestapo squads along with other federal agents to any city Trump regards as ideologically opposed to his fascist agenda, and begin kidnapping people and very publicly and aggressively violating civil rights.

B) Declare any protests or opposition to those nazi ICE raids and tactics, no matter how peaceful or lawful they may be, to be an insurrection and an attack on federal law enforcement. Use that attack, even if you have to make it up whole cloth, to justify commandeering a state's own National Guard to enforce Trump's rule militarily, while actively tasking them with protecting ICE Gestapo agents conducting raids; which conveniently gets around the legal restrictions that have previously prevented Trump from using the army to conduct ethno-nationalist immigration enforcement policies and mass deportations.

C) As Trump himself has proposed, respond to any "attack" (which again, we know they can just make up) on National Guard forces, by sending in the US Military and presumably invoking the Insurrection Act to place the targeted city under martial law and Trump's de facto command.

Please note that the only part of this outline that's still hypothetical is C; and while Trump hasn't actually done it yet, numerous powerful nazis in his administration have hinted that is the direction they're heading, including Stephen Miller, Kristi Noem, Hegseth himself, Tom Homan, Pam Bondi, and Trump's press secretary Karoline Leavitt, who at least in theory speaks for the president. How many times do I have to share the Maya Angelou quote "when someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time" in regards to Trump's fascist movement before the reality sinks in that these guys might not be capable of grasping as much power as they desire, but they abso-fucking-lutely mean to try regardless?

What we are looking at here is an arbitrarily deployable framework for a fascist police state enforced by a US military that answers only to Trump, which can be conjured up out of thin air and portably deployed around the country at will. The Swine Emperor is effectively announcing his immanent takeover of the entire country, by demonstrating on the streets of LA that he can instantly take over any given part of that country and unless local officials are prepared to fight the fucking National Guard and or US Army, there's sweet fuck all they can do about it; or at least, so the regime openly says.

Folks, I must confess that I am just as overwhelmed as you are trying to keep track of all the horrifying stories spewing out of the fascist Trumprenreich invasion of LA. But listening to the regime talk, watching Trump activate the California National guard to stop an insurrection we could all watch not happening on livestream, and seeing the LAPD gleefully join in with the nazis to argue stopping fascist ICE raids is a justification to revoke civil rights and engage in unconscionable security state violence, this doesn't sound like we're talking about a *hypothetical* fascist dictatorship anymore.

Like many of the people reading this, my focus is currently on trying to process everything that's coming out of the regime's invasion of LA; particularly the alarming things the government is saying which imply they're preparing to respond violently to what I suspect are going to be big, but extremely tepid mainstream liberal protests on June 14th. But news still existed before Trump sent the National Guard into LA, and as always The Skinny was there. We've got stories about the Gestapo gone wild, American participation in a colonial massacre in Gaza, and of course a little bit about the early stages of Trump's war on blue cities. Buckle up, it only gets dumber and more terrifying from here.

ninaillingworth.com/2025/06/10

The Skinny: A Whiter Shade of Fail

“This is a fascist regime, ruled by a reality TV show nazi with his own burgeoning cult of personality, actively looking to create an American one-party dictatorship by consolidating as much governing power and control over US security forces as possible, in the executive branch. Levine is more than correct to point out what other observers apparently will not; in addition to positioning himself as the embodiment of US military might, Trump is also courting the armed forces he needs to enforce a nazi police state conducting mass deportations under martial law, with lavish funding and the prestige of a fascist propaganda theater event that celebrates the troops, at the same time it celebrates Trump.”

In the thread above, I've made the argument that the entire Trump regime's invasion of LA, from the original Gestapo raids on Friday, all the way through to this very moment, is a carefully orchestrated authoritarian political project stapled to an engineered bit of fascist theater. To my eye, this conclusion seems pretty obvious, particularly given how quickly after protests broke out the entire Trump regime, including noted nazis Stephen Miller and Tom Homan, produced clearly-coordinated sound bites about a "violent insurrection" in LA that literally was not happening. Proving it beyond a shadow of a doubt however, is an evolving process that's going to take time and evidence; so I'm going to intersperse that evidence throughout this thread as we go along.

First up, did you know the regime brought noted anti-migrant, pro-Trump fascist propagandist Dr. Phil to LA for an exclusive "before and after" raid interview with border Czar Tom Homan?

theguardian.com/us-news/2025/j

Talkshow host Dr Phil joined Ice agents for Los Angeles immigration raids

"Phil, whose full name is Phil McGraw, was with Ice before and after its agents conducted a series of raids on multiple locations across LA on Friday. Immigration advocates said at least 45 people were arrested, and the action was condemned by California’s governor and LA’s mayor.

It was the second time McGraw, a former practising psychologist who hosted a TV talkshow for two decades, has been embedded with Ice this year. In January, he joined the US border czar, Tom Homan, in a choreographed immigration raid in Chicago, in a stunt that was criticized at the time."

First of all The Guardian, I think describing Phil McGraw as a "talk show host" and "television personality" in this year of our discontent 2025, is a bold move; Dr. Phil is now a fascist propagandist trading on his personal relationships inside the Trump administration to push an aging conservative audience further into the Klepto Kaiser's cult of personality. He isn't on my TV anymore; he's on a fake TV network for fascists and bigot Boomers and he's actively working with the Trump regime to produce anti-migrant, pro-ICE propaganda because his career prospects at this point are virtually nonexistent otherwise.

Which is of course why I'm sharing this article at all. We already know that the regime brought in Dr. Phil to create highly-choreographed propaganda to support fascist ICE raids after he was embedded with Gestapo agents led by Tom Homan himself back in January; it's not like this is a hobby for McGraw or anything, it's his job now. What then does it say that Homan once against tapped McGraw to provide the theatrical component to fascist ICE raids, using new tactics officials knew would result in outrage and resistance, while clearly preparing to justify the deployment of US military forces to LA against then entirely peaceful protests?

It says the regime was putting on a show; and if there's one thing we know about Trump and putting on a show, it's that Downmarket Mussolini likes to go big, or go home.
