Former BDP producer / rapper D-Nice releases his debut album, “Call Me D-Nice”

I first heard this when it came to the radio station at my college. I didn’t realize D-Nice was part of the BDP crew (Edutainment had just come out a week earlier). So I had no expectations that it would be like BDP or any other group. I’d just play “They Call Me D-Nice” on my show regularly.

I just love the funky beat that plays throughout this. The production quality is spare, not unusual for the era. And most tracks are basic hip hop fare, boastful rhymes and buzzing baselines.

I haven't listened to much of his music after this album, until COVID hit and D-Nice started doing live DJ shows.
