I think I am in danger of becoming a jazzy jazz man. I still don’t know really what I’m listening to if I’m honest. I mean I don’t know all the terms and drops and syncopated beats (that’s a term) and jazzy phrases and stuff. I definitely have my favourite genre(s) though.

Anyway, #JonsCookingMusic tonight is this bad boy, another of the Blue Note cassette tape recent acquisitions.

If you’ve ever seen The Mighty Boosh and Howard Moon ‘air trumpeting’ to The Spirit Of Jazz….well that’s me right now.

What is a Madrorma you ask (again, nobody) ? Well, it’s a madras based curry, with extra chillis for heat, backed by ground almonds and yogurt. Best of all worlds.

Cooking a lamb curry tonight. I have the cricket on in the background (sound down) and #JonsCookingMusic tonight is the fabulous Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers. This was an under-graded (makes a change) bargain that cleaned up beautifully in the ultrasonic cleaner.

Another sunny Friday afternoon. BBQ time! #JonsCookingMusic today is one of the first LPs my brother bought me in 1982 when it first came out. I wasn’t so into it back then, not edgy enough for me 😂

Doh. Well it was sounding superb. Then the felt pressure pad came loose. I’ve actually a couple of tapes where I need to replace the pad, so just got a strip of self adhesive ones from eBay. Nice little weekend job 😄

This is right up there with my all time favourite albums. It’s just superb. It’s also the first time I’ve played it on the new setup, and wow it sounds so good.

Ok, continuing #JonsCookingMusic with something quite special. I thought I’d missed out on the vinyl for this, but #AwesomeTapesFromAfrica did another batch and I snapped one up. The original 1977 release goes for £3000+ (!!) but honestly this pressing is really good!

It’s wonderful.

Seems like a long time since I did a #JonsCookingMusic but tonight I’m back on it. Starting off with one of my favourite compilations. Ever. This album holds a special place in my heart for reasons I won’t bore you with, but suffice to say it’s a truly great album.

Released 1995 featuring Oasis, Radiohead, Blur, Manic Street Preachers, Stone Roses, Portishead, Paul Weller, Paul McCartney and Noel Gallagher and more.
