Two reels of 1/4" studio tape containing the stereo mixdown of the album "More Songs About Dragons" by DOUG the Eagle.
These are blue ATR spools with the titles printed on them with old-style Dymo labels.
Above each reel is a tangled mass of tape, containing unwanted sections where the mix was aborted and the gap before the mix restarts has been cut out with razorblades and sticky tape. Which is how most albums were produced until the 90s.

Keen eyes may note that side 2 has a lot of tape missing - this went into a later remix of the opening track on side 1, and the original version has been spooled onto a 7" tape.

I mean, one on its own wouldn’t do that. But two is a collection, right?

A Sony YP-EW22 portable cassette player, which looks like something from a Wes Anderson film or like part of a scout ensemble. It looks like a small yellow satchel with a player in the middle.

On the day the #Maxell blank #cassettes arrived I tried to see if if the new-to-me #Pioneer CT-300 #cassette player from the #80s still records fine.
It's going to need some work. The seller sadly somewhat "oversold" its working condition. Fortunately it's fairly easy to find replacement belts, I just need to wait a bit.

Further to the left of the blank cassettes the "Midnights" LP album by Taylor Swift is laying, right in front of a candle light that is turned on. On the wall behind all this a metal wireframe on which a handful of photos are attached. Most every photo is of Yamgom, our black chow-chow mix dog in various poses and wearing various accessories. The overall mood of the photo gives me a sort of 90s nostalgic vibe, in large part due to the prevalence of physical objects that in the modern day more often than have become fully digital (photos, music).

It is the year of someone's Lord 2025, and you can still buy a brand new 5-pack of blank #Maxell #Audio #Cassette #tapes. I love that this is a thing, and hope it keeps being a thing for years/decades to come.
