2025年参議院議員選挙 期日前投票
来週7月20日、第27回参議院議員通常選挙が行われます。先週から市役所では期日前投票ができるようになっていましたが、今週末から駅前でも投票できるようになったので、私も駅前で映画を観た後に早速行ってきました。
期日前投票についてはちょうど15年前にも一度書いたことがありますが、その時とはちょっと変わっているところがあります。それは当時は理由を書かなければいけなかったのですが、今はその必要がなくなっているという点です。当時もすでに形式だけのものではあったのですが、その後正式に理由を問わないことになりました。一応総務省のページには以下のように書かれていますが、それもあくまで形式上のものです。
７月２０日（日）に用事があるなど一定の事由に該当すると見込まれる方は期日前投票ができます。
投票の際には受付より宣誓書を受け取り、期日前投票の事由のいずれかに見込まれる旨の宣誓をします。あとは投票日の手続と同じです。
また、期日前投票の際には郵送されてくるいわゆる投票券、投票所入場券を持参することは必ずしも必要ではありません。たまたま期日前投票の投票所の前を通りがかった時にでも、投票所にある入場券に住所氏名と生年月日を記入するだけで、ふらっと立ち寄って投票することが可能です。私も今回は投票券を持っていくのを忘れていましたが、問題なくパッと記入して投票することができました。もちろん、自宅に投票券があるからといってそれを持って投票日当日にもう一回投票するなんていうのは完全な違法行為です。
聞いた話では、県内のある町では期日前投票をすると指定のゴミ袋がもらえることになっているそうで、そのおかげで期日前投票をする人が多く、結果的に投票率が非常に高くなっているようです。実際に公開されている前回の選挙の結果(PDF)を見てみましたが、私が住んでいるところよりも投票率が15ポイントほども高く、これは有意な差があると言っていいのではないでしょうか。参議院議員選挙の投票率も完全に下落傾向ですから、指定ゴミ袋であれば自治体側の負担も大きくないでしょうし、こういった策はどんどん取り入れていったらいいのではないでしょうか。すでに検討済みかもしれませんが、私も友人の市議に進言してみようかと思います。
ということで、政治への関心はどんどん薄れていってしまっているのかもしれませんが、日々の生活などに不満を感じている人は少なくないでしょうから、ぜひその気持ちを投票へと向けて欲しいものです。
