Not much #FT8 on 20m right now and I just started listening for #WSPR (which will take a while to show up) but you can see #Morse is hopping on the lower end of the band.

a spectrum and waterfall display in the 20-meter amateur radio band. In the waterfall you can see very little, very faint activity near the marker for the FT8 protocol, nothing at all so far in the WSPR area, but the low end of the 20-meter band has many closely spaced dotted lines, which are an obvious indicator of Morse activity.

That feeling when you crystal clear hear your callsign with a question mark appended and you get to send "r r". 😆

Well at least I know for sure I got in their log.

I personally believe that most effective way to speed up CW receiving is by practicing ICR (Instant Character Recognition). This method has had the largest effect on my receiving. Even short practices seem to have noticeable effect.

I previously released iOS App for this and now it is available as web based. Remember to use physical keyboard!

I actually procured two paddles this week. Besides the Putikeeg, I also scored a POTA paddle. Little rectangle doodad that's not half bad, except corners are a little sharp.

Practicing with that POTA paddle this morning, I was startled when the dits and dahs were suddenly reversed. thumb made dah, finger made dit. I fumbled for several minutes trying to look for a switch or something.

I finally realized I was holding the paddle upside down. That's something I know now. 🤣

I published a new pre-release of my Android Morse trainer Dahdidahdit. You can now use an external mouse (or an adapter that pretends to be one) as a Morse key. The new version should also install on Android 15. I'd be very happy if somebody with an actual Android 15 phone could test it and let me know about the results. (It runs on an Android 15 emulator but the emulator is super slow, so testing there is nearly impossible.)

So the QMX is even smaller than I anticipated. That's a happy surprise. I'm powering it with a random powerbrick that has USB PD capability. I'm using a USB-C to barrel adapter that requests 12V.

Haven't been on the bands yet, but I did enable practice mode to get some sending practice in. I was surprised to learn I can send faster than I expected. Comfortably at 15WPM--and can even send at 20WPM without many errors but my timing gets funny cause I have to think what I'm trying to send.

QMX transceiver held in my hand. It fits quite comfortably.

Looks like my QRP Labs QMX cleared customs and will likely arrive tomorrow. Reading through the operating manual, I find it novel that you can enter config settings for strings and numbers using #morse code. On a different rig that might be a slightly unreasonable user experience. However since this is primarily a CW radio, it makes sense. Besides you can always fiddle with knobs and buttons to enter the same data.
