Been playing on https://www.erionmud.com and am thoroughly enjoying the crafting system. Having the option to just work uninterrupted, in familiar patterns, appeals to my #ActuallyAutistic need for structure and familiarity, while when my #ActuallyADHD side wants novelty, I can go wander the realm and see what pops up. And if I need something, I can make it myself, darn it! LOL If you try it out and need some pointers, I'm usually up there as Tamryn, so feel free to ask me anything.

Do not try to replace Vipmud keys. You will not get the emails. A friend just tried and then I, annoyed when they didn't get their email, decided to temporarily give them one of my keys--and I didn't get mine either. Whatever you do, don't replace them until someone answers the problem.

Twine, reminds me of Multi-User-Dungeons. Muds were all about choosing the right path and embracing the unexpected repercussions 🚙💦 Twine is neat because it can do the same for storytelling—branch out, take alternate routes, and reap the surprises. This might be a fun side project!

New instance, new #introduction — hello, I’m Kake, I live in South London, and I like making things.

I make all my own clothes (except for socks), and I make patchworked textiles using my own hand-dyed fabrics. Sometimes I embroider them.

I’m part of the creator team on the Discworld MUD; in other words, I help to build a game that’s set in an immersive world made entirely out of words, and I do this with a mix of creative writing, bad puns, programming, bugfixing, and esoteric knowledge of a 30-year-old codebase. http://discworld.starturtle.net/

I’m good at cooking, but I’m mainly interested in simplifying it so it doesn’t take time away from the other things I want to do. I like to develop fast-to-prepare recipes with vegetables and pulses and wholegrains. I’m an omnivore, and I generally prefer fish to meat.

I spent several years writing an ongoing local history of the land and buildings along a road near my house, but I put this on pause after the pandemic started, when I ran out of the material I’d already researched. One day I might pick it up again. https://london-road-croydon.org/history/

You place a bet of 5 coins on red.
The croupier accepts your 5 coins with a nod.

bet 30 on black
You place a bet of 30 coins on black.
The croupier grins as he takes your coins and says, "Let's see if luck's on your side.”

bet 7 on 13
You place a bet of 7 coins on number 13.
The croupier sweeps up your 7 coins and positions them before you, remarking, "Wager noted.”

A croupier sweeps a hand over a roulette table, "Final call for bets! Place any remaining wagers now!"

The croupier's hand glides across the table gathering the last bets as he announces, "All wagers are in, bets are now closed!"

The croupier reaches for the wheel and gives it a spin.

A metallic ring sounds as a ball darts through red, black, and green, prolonging its tumble across the roulette wheel.

The wheel slows and the ball tumbles into place, landing on 24 black!
BET LOST! You forfeit 5 coins from your bet on red.
BET WON! Your bet on black pays out 60 coins.
BET LOST! You forfeit 7 coins from your bet on number 13.

The croupier rakes in the remaining bets, clearing the table for a new game.

Description: An eccentric scholar wandering the Weeping Wood spoke of an old and clever gate that appears in his dreams. He urged me to seek it out and uncover its secrets - if it even has any - and return with proof.

Discovering the location "Windswept Summit" with the stone gate.
The mountain path narrows as you near the summit, flanked by jagged cliffs that rise on either side, and sheer drops that threaten below. Snow clings to the craggy rock faces, while loose gravel shifts underfoot. A great stone gate looms ahead, embedded straight within the mountainside, and almost invisible behind a veil of swirling mist that never seems to lift. The air is sharp and thin, biting with an icy chill that stings your lungs. A narrow ledge skirts down the cliffside, barely large enough to stand upon. It is currently night time, the moon shines over Mystavaria.
You notice exits: down
You see: a great stone gate

Attempting to interact with the gate:
ENTER GATE: A great stone gate does not lead anywhere.
PUSH GATE: You give a great stone gate a solid push.
OPEN GATE: A great stone gate cannot be opened.

LOOK GATE: The great stone gate is carved directly into the mountain wall, towering over all who dare approach. Colossal pillars and massive stones frame the gate, the top forming an archway faintly engraved with symbols and weathered runes. Though worn smooth by time, the soft, sapphire-blue runes light an inscription: "Loquere, amice, et intra," etched like a secret invitation into the stone.

Figuring out the secret to opening the gate.

You say, "Friend."
Runes on the nearby gateway pulse brightly, the air thickening with some ancient magic.
A soft rumble echoes through the mountain as the gate slowly grinds open, revealing a winding passage beyond.
Cool air rushes out from the passage, carrying with it the scent of old stone.
You have completed the Stone Gate quest!
You gain 100 experience.

An ASCII map (optional) and exits in the location change/update to reveal a exit to the north.

Player returns to Lucarion (the original quest giver) with a treasure from inside the secret passage behind the gate.

You give a golden signet ring to Lucarion.
Lucarion's eyes glitter as he takes the ring from you and murmurs, "Yes... yesss, my preci-" but catches himself mid-word, clears his throat, and flashes a too-wide smile as he says, "Er, I mean, what a precious find!"
Lucarion drops a few coins in your hand and says, "You've done a great service. Truly, this is... most appreciated.”
Lucarion quickly turns his back and you hear him whisper under his breath, "Now, we have much to uncover, don't we, my precious..."

You have completed the Secrets Beyond the Gate quest!
You gain 50 experience.
Your friendship with Lucarion grows.
You gain 50 coins.

Since then, what gaming I have done has either been #MUDs (mainly Medievia & LegendMUD), or PC/Mac games, and not very many of them, or actual #RPGs, like #DnD, which these days we have to call #TTRPGs to distinguish them from the computer-based games that are called RPGs by the younger generations but don't actually offer any real #roleplaying, because they aren't sentient partners in conversation.

So until late Aug 2024, when I started #FFXIV, I'd never touched the #FinalFantasy franchise. …
