@BOOKHOUSE I make things.

Not as often or intensively as I would like to.

Because life is a LOT.

And yet.

Still, I make. 😊

Photo of an original oil painting (incomplete), part of the "God Is the Abyss" series by Courtney Canteell. In the center is a large, deep darkness encircled by a glowing yellow-orange ring like a serpent nearly biting its own tail. Surrounding the glowing ring are billows of cloud or fog morphing slowly into what might be cave walls halfway down. On a rocky, uneven "floor," a human figure stands before the darkness. The figure's back is to the viewer. The figure is only suggested by a few strokes of paint.Photo of an original acrylics painting by Courtney Cantrell. The painting is of an Australian shepherd (a brown and white dog) from the chest up. Tongue out in mid-pant, he's facing the viewer. His eyes are amber. The background is medium blues speckled with orange and red swipes of paint.Photo of a book cover: THE ACCURSED by Courtney Cantrell.
The image shows a young woman in near-silhouette, standing in a forest with her back to the viewer. The trees are eerily tall and thin, overgrown with moss and fading into a deep, blue-green haze.
The young woman has long, frizzy red hair and is wearing a dress with a light top and a crimson skirt that trails on the mossy ground. She seems to have stopped mid-stride to look up at an unearthly, star-like, yellow glow hovering near the treetops.
The lettering of both title and author's name is white.

Anyway, this image is of weird medieval cats, in the typical weird medieval style of people who'd apparently never seen a cat before. The background is deep blue, spangled with gold stars, with a centered white-edged golden rectangle. I have no idea what it's supposed to be.
In the bottom left corner are some flames. A gray cat is curled up to the right of the fire. I'm sure it's supposed to be asleep, but it looks like it's got its nose stuck in its genitals.
Above this potentially auto-oraling cat hangs a birdcage made of thin white bars and red sticks. The golden bird inside looks like a kookaburra. I don't even know.
To the right of the cage, a black cat stands on its hind legs, reaching into the cage with both front paws. Its face (in profile) looks like the artist one time heard a drunken maniac bard's description of a cat and ran with it. Birdsnatcher Blackie is giving serious side-eye at his friend behind him.
Said friend is a white cat with bluish-gray points and black stripes. Bluey is also standing on her hind legs like a goddamn human, and she's holding a rat in her front paws like the rodent is machine gun and she's about to blow some poor bastard away like she's a hardened Mafia henchperson.

For two pieces I'm working on two lampshades will be cut out a metal roof panel laying around here. One shade will be sanded to get a 'brushed' like finish. It won't be as uniform as factory 'brushed' so to pull it all together a clear coat will finish it of. The other shade will be white paint.
