Don't think this Tandy 1500HD is coming back... at least not with the original hardware.

Bought this cheap knowing it had spent time underwater, with the intention of gutting the housing and sticking modern hardware inside. I always try to restore vintage stuff first, but I'm pretty sure this one is beyond saving. I'm a sucker for this form factor though, so I want to do something neat with it.

Hoping to salvage the keyboard, but I'm not sure if it works or how it communicates. Might be possible to buy/build some sort of converter to interface with USB (I am open to any suggestions there) but I'll probably just find a comparably-sized USB keyboard and shoehorn it inside the original housing.

Easy mode would be to stick a Pi, battery, and some bulkhead connectors in the case. Buuuut, I'm also realizing the shell for the LCD is a hair thicker than a Lenovo Legion Go. What if I gutted one of those, stuck it in the LCD shell? Hmm...

It's in remarkably good shape despite that though, although the board shows signs of reworking (maybe third party repairs of some kind).

Der Stoff ist heute gekommen und ich habe ihn direkt in die Waschmaschine geschmissen. Er war Abends auch schon trocken 😄

Also direkt mit der Futterjacke angefangen. Einfach ist Stoff nicht aber, das Futter ist fertig und auch der Reißverschluss ist schon drin. Morgen geht es dann mit dem Kragen weiter.

These things kinda break my heart. These HP streams. I get lots of them donated. And they're these small cute laptops, sleek, brightly colored.

I get why people buy them. However, they're so pathetically spec'd that they must be awful to use. Nearly every one of those I get look like they're brand new and never touched. And yet the batteries are always completely dead.

I guess these were instant buyers remorse

One of my local volunteer projects is the library's website which I'm updating this morning as Cosmo waits for second breakfast.

Happily using #FreeSoftware: ghostwriter for markdown conversion to html. Then I'll use Kate to edit a couple html files then upload with Filezilla. #GNU #Linux @linuxmint and the Cinnamon DE. All running on a 2018 #Thinkpad bought for $250 on Ebay.

No need for new/expensive hardware from #apple.
